golden era for Karnataka cricket, due to the presence of Javagal Srinath, Venkatesh Prasad, Anil Kumble and Sunil Joshi.

• Despite making his debut in the 1994-95 season, __X__ could not get a permanent slot in the Karnataka team. Coming from a humble background, he was helped by kind team-mates and well-wishers. A.V.Jayaprakash waived the tuition fees and gifted him with a bat, Srinath would get him a pair of shoes from abroad, Kumble would gift him clothes and, while in the MRF Pace Academy, Prasad would translate in Kannada for him.

• It was in the Irani Trophy in 1996-97 where he picked up 11 wickets, including V. V. S. Laxman and Navjot Singh Sidhu, that he stormed into national reckoning. After this performance he was selected for the Indian cricket team's tour of South Africa.

• He struggled for many years to get his debut album published. Initially he worked with Sony Music, but Sony backed out. He then approached Minty Tejpal, brother of Tehelka's editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, who liked his music and offered him a contract. Soon after Tehelka ran into financial problems and eventually cancelled the contract. Magnasound also offered him a contract, but the company became bankrupt before the album could materialize.

• He was finally signed on by Phat Phish Records, on which he released his debut album in 2004
