Introduction

2

Situation - Typical challenges

Varying fuel quality and fuel mix

 Fuel with high slagging/fouling tendency

 Inhomogeneous fouling at heating surfaces

 Cleaning based on time-based criteria

Cleaning of the complete furnace part

Same time criteria for all the convective heat exchangers

Cleaning is not based on the demand driven approach

Unplanned outages caused by slaggingand fouling

Process Optimisation & Controls

SMART Clean - intelligent on-load boiler cleaning:

 Combined use of

Diagnostics – sensor systems measuring process data

Analysis – software modules analysingand interpreting data

Decision – decision center making final decision on required cleaning action

 Leads to precise information about:

WHERE in the boiler is the deposit located?

HOW intensive has the cleaning to be?

WHEN is the best time to initiate cleaning?

Modell-based SMART Clean

Efficiency evaluation of each cleaning sequence by using different, historical and process specific measurements

(e.g. Water-steam cycle; flue gas) depending on time

Analysis of the current condition and detection of optimization potential(e.g. Increase of the live steam flow;

constant turbine power by decreasing the fuel flow)

Adaption of the cleaning time of each sootblower(group)

Optimal cleaning time for each sootblower(group)

Functional principle
