Dear Colleagues,

As Conference Director and on behalf of events organiser PennWell, the advisory board, speakers, exhibitors and sponsors, I am delighted to invite you to Cologne this June for the 2012 Renewable Energy World Europe Conference and Exhibition.

Renewable energy continues to witness strong growth in the face of economic uncertainty and maintains considerable political support at European, national and regional levels.

Indeed, to meet the European goal of cutting greenhouse gas emissions by over 80% by 2050, the continent’s energy production will have to be almost entirely carbon-free and the recently released European Commission Energy Roadmap 2050 concludes that renewable energy is critical to meet this and other targets.

In Germany, where recent energy policy decisions are anticipated to boost renewable energies still further, the German Solar Industry Association (BSW-Solar) estimates that the share of solar power in the country’s electricity mix will increase from around 4% in 2012 to some 7% in the year 2016. And, according to Carsten Körnig, Chief Executive Officer, by 2020, the solar industry intends to increase its share of electricity consumption in Germany to over 10%.

Just what may be achieved in just a few short years is amply illustrated by new analysis of provisional EUROSTAT data from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) which states that in 2010 renewable energies produced 665-673 TWh, hitting a staggering 21% of electricity consumed in the European Union.

If renewable electricity production in the EU continued to grow at the same rate as it did from 2005 to 2010 it would account for 36.4% of electricity in 2020 and 51.6% in 2030, EWEA estimates.

Of course, the challenge of integrating such a volume of renewable energy – much of it variable output – into Europe’s energy mix without disrupting energy supplies and competitiveness is perhaps the key issue of the coming decade and for that reason the theme features strongly in this year’s event with an entirely dedicated track. Delegates to Renewable Energy World Europe, our unique cross-technology event and multi-track conference, will benefit from multiple presentations and panel discussion sessions with all the latest on renewable energy and associated technologies, strategies and implementation. Along with a unique opportunity to develop the role of renewable energies within the context of the wider energy complex, Renewable Energy World Europe offers you the chance to not only discuss commercial and financial prospects, but to also do vital business. It is the must attend energy event this summer.

Both conference and exhibition floor attract the industry’s leading professionals and key decision makers, whose innovation and expertise are helping to shape the future of renewable energy production and usage.

This pre-show guide contains all the information you need in order to plan your visit to Renewable Energy World Europe. You will find the preliminary agenda for our multi-track conference, exhibitor listings, technical tour and hotel information. Registration details are on pages 35 to 36. I urge you to register early to take full advantage of the Early Bird discounts on offer.

Full details of the event, including updates to the conference programme, can be found on the Renewable Energy World Europe website, www.renewableenergyworld-europe.com.

I very much look forward to seeing you in Cologne.

A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

The HydroVision Russia conference and exhibition, alongside its sister event Russia Power returns to Moscow on 5 – 7 March 2013.

In a little over three years HydroVision Russia has become one of the leading meeting places for Russian and international hydro power practitioners. Actively supported by RusHydro, Russia’s biggest hydro-generating company and the second biggest in the world in terms of installed capacity, HydroVision Russia is the place to connect with the industry.

A vital component of Russia’s electric sector, hydroelectric power represents some 20 percent of the country’s power generation. As a result, there exists opportunities for new development and an urgent need to improve the reliability and efficiency of existing plants.

HydroVision Russia addresses these issues by bringing together professionals from the Russian and International hydroelectric power industry to share ideas, understand problems and develop practical solutions to industry challenges now and in the future.

Over three days, the dual language conference programme will bring together industry professionals from Austria, Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Iran, Norway, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the United States to share information and expertise on a wide range of topics.

With an even bigger exhibition floor than before, HydroVision Russia represents a unique opportunity to interact with leading service and product suppliers in Russia and throughout the world.

So join us at HydroVision Russia 2013, the hydro power event where the industry connects.

Media 7 UK ltd is delighted to be appointed as the official digital screen partner for POwEr-GEn Europe 2012 and its associated events For its 20th anniversary year, POWER-GEN Europe will, for the first time, install a digital screen network, which will provide a flexible and dynamic means of broadcasting information and show content around the popular event. The digital network will consist of four state-of-the-art 75sqft LED walls, neatly housed, branded and strategically located in the major traffic flow areas between the halls. Serving as the principal broadcast medium at the event, the network will provide the organisers with a conduit for the onsite launch of POWER-GEN TV. All four screens will display a carefully selected mixture of live coverage, twitter feeds, breaking show news and timetable information. Throughout the length of the show there will be a strictly limited number of opportunities for companies to enhance their presence at the show by taking one of two bespoke commercial airtime packages.

All company messages will be displayed in full colour with audio, and due to the flexible nature of digital, companies can change copy as required. The commercial packages will be limited to no more than 15 participating companies and will therefore operate on a first come first served basis.

PennWell Corporation has appointed Aspectus PR, a dedicated public relations consultancy, and its German partner agency hFN, to promote POWER-GEN Europe and its co-located event Renewable Energy World Europe. Their objective is to gain as much publicity as possible for the show and promote your organisation’s presence at the event. The closer you work with them the more likely the event will be a success for you. DON’T MISS OUT – it doesn’t cost you anything and there are many different ways exhibitors can get involved in the PR campaign including:

by-lined opinion articlesThere are a number of European publications that are keen to receive by-lined articles from exhibitors in all languages. If you send us an 800-1000 word article we will try to place it for you. For us to successfully place your articles they will need to be opinion based and non-company or product-centric. For style guidelines please contact Aspectus PR.

Quotes for your press releasesIf you are sending out a press release and would like to include a quote from someone at the event such as keynote speakers or the organisers of the event Aspectus can help get an appropriate expert to provide comment.

In-house publicationsIf you run an in-house publication and would like to publish a preview of the show alongside what you will be doing at the event to distribute internally or to your clients and partners, Aspectus can assist with content, logos and images.

Press roomExhibitors can display press kits, releases and notices in the press room during the event. Please bear in mind that most journalists prefer to receive press packs on a memory stick or CD so they don’t have to carry heavy materials around with them.

The press room is for the sole use of visiting journalists, who will be given details of all press conferences or other planned press events Aspectus PR is made aware of. If your organisation is planning any press activity at the event please ensure you inform Aspectus PR as soon as possible.

social MediaOur PR campaign is geared towards achieving the highest possible search engine ranking for the show and related searches. With Google now arguably the most important business tool on the planet, leveraging social media and social networking opportunities to ensure our communications reach the widest possible audience is an essential aspect of the PR campaign.
