DIRECT ENTRY MEASUREMENT

The direct entry measurement system is extraordinarily easy to use, it incorporates a smart sidecast capability. Direct meas-urement may incorporate an unlimited number of sidecast calculations.

Bill items can be linked directly to sidecasts. Sidecast calculations can recursively refer to other sidecast calculations.

When a number or formula is changed, all affected items are instantly and automatically adjusted. You can mix and match conventional dimensions and calculation by formula. Unlimited linkage of formula provides a rich foundation for quantity modelling.

Behind the scenes Vector's 'Measurement Guardian' ensures data integrity at all times. If a surveyor attempts to delete part of the measurement data that is used elsewhere, Vector will not only stop the deletion from happening, but it will also show the full calculation path explaining why this item cannot be safely deleted.

SIDECAST MEASUREMENT

Vector CAD Measure provides seamless and fully integrated take-off from standard CAD drawings, no additional software is required.

Measurement is quick and easy with automatic calculation of lengths, areas and angles. Areas can be traced accurately using 'Snap To'. Multiple separate lengths or areas can be grouped for measurement purposes. The take-off is documented in the bill take-off and on the drawing.

Vector supports single and multi screen hardware. Measurements can be dragged and dropped to different parts of the system. Right clicking on a measurement within the bill take-off will trace back to the source object on the drawing.

Complex drawings can be simplified using the layers controls. Additional measurement layers can be created.

INTEGRATED CAD MEASUREMENT

Using a Digitiser with Vector's Digimate software is one of those rare combin-ations that yields immediate results with so little to learn.

Digimate makes measuring those photocopied 'oddball' scale drawings easy in a way that manual methods just can't match. Simply click on the end points of a dimension and enter the length and the program will calculate the drawing scale.

Using the cross hairs on the puck 'site' you can accurately get right into the intersection corners for precise and speedy measure-ment. Especially useful for the tiny A3 drawings that are becoming so common.

How many times have you divided a complex shape into rectangles and triangles to guestimate the area and perimeter or had to apply Simpson’s Rules? Such hassle is reduced to a simple tracing exercise.Click with the measuring button on points

TMNUDGAL items have been dragged to the desired location and marked with icons

TMNUDGAL Sort enables you to combine the most convenient features of convent-ional coded bills with the ease and convenience of the codeless bill. It allows surveyors to use codes for most of the sorting, but if you want to override the automatic sort for some item(s) you can do so. You simply 'nudge' the item(s) into place using drag-and-drop or copy and paste. This is all achieved by internal magic without you or the program modifying the codes.

Coded Bill production is uncomplicated. You can always see what is going on. Even better Vector performs continuous 'live' checks on data entry immediately highlighting items with coding errors. Correction is easy while the topic is fresh in the surveyor’s mind.

Vector Presentation ViewVector export to Excel is particularly cap-able. Vector produces a complete working Bill of Quantities in Microsoft Excel format that mirrors the printed bill in appearance and is complete with carried forward headings, formulas, lines, collections and summaries. Presentation is of the highest order even the cell heights are subtly adjusted to give the best possible appearance. This capability is a huge time saver.

Bills and Estimates can be exported individ-ually. Or Preambles, Preliminaries, and a number of bills can be bound together on different worksheets within a single Excel workbook to create a complete tender document.

The surveyor has fine control over Vector’s automated bill locking so that the cont- ractor may price the Excel bill but cannot tamper or modify the rest of the original content. The returned priced spreadsheet can be read back in for tender review.

The surveyor can produce a working Estimate at any chosen level of detail. This may be a careful detailed in-depth evaluation, or quite rough and ready for other purposes. The Cost Plan can then be printed out in detail. Even better the high quality Cost Plan Summary gives the recipient a good overall picture of the project while hiding most of the detail.

The detailed estimate and summary values can be exported to Excel and used to 'drive' client’s Excel cost models for cost planning and taxation purposes.

Vector is supplied with several sample cost model frameworks and reporting that can be cloned and modified to suit different types of project and client requirements.

A Cost Plan Summary can be produced from any source: Approximate Estimate, Costed Contract Bill of Quantities, Contract Final Account.

Any project can be measured by percentage complete by simply turning on Percentage Complete View, values can be entered against a group of items or set individually. Re-measuring Provisional Quantities could not be easier using Vector’s powerful direct entry measurement system.
