Integrated Simulation Environment for Offshore Engineering Applications Overview Overview Testimonial Testimonial Challenge Challenge Accelerate the simulation-to-design process in a high-technology multidisciplinary engineering environment Improve quality by utilization of one 3-D CAD model for all engineering disciplines Provide clients with more robust and advanced designs within their budgets Create a bridge between CAD hydrodynamic, fluid dynamic and structural simulations Solution Solution AMOG uses Autodesk Inventor software to generate detailed parameterized 3-D CAD models that are exchanged with various simulation software packages from ANSYS. The model is modified in the ANSYS ® DesignModeler tool and meshed using the ANSYS ® Workbench platform or the CFX-Mesh tool. Via the ANSYS APDL language, the mesh is exported for hydrodynamic assessment to ANSYS AQWA software or for fluid dynamic assessments to ANSYS CFX software. The ANSYS AQWA results can be directly used as input into ANSYS CFX software, and the results are used as loads in an ANSYS Workbench simulation without having to manually transfer the load data. Benefits Benefits The described process, to generate and exchange data in a multidisciplinary engineering environment, takes significantly less time than would have been required to generate a multitude of models for each simulation environment. This process aids AMOG Consulting’s highly-specialized engineers, allowing more time to be spent on quality control, interpretation of results and optimization of the design. “We have successfully integrated ANSYS software in our simulation-driven design process and eliminated time-costly model preparation and data exchange protocols. This process, especially in the concept phase, enables us to gain a deeper insight in the dependencies between the different engineering disciplines.” Holger Kelle Senior Engineer AMOG Consulting AMOG uses a simulation-driven design process to accelerate engineering and design development time and to meet industry demands for a more robust and optimized product. State-of the-art analytical software from ANSYS, Inc. offers the ability to interchange simulation and test data between different highly specialized engineering disciplines. 3-D parameterized CAD models are used for pre-processing and are exchanged with different ANSYS simulation software packages. This process allows specialists in their respective engineering disciplines to streamline the simulation process, exchange data and communicate design changes through the same 3-D model. AMOG Consulting offers a broad range of specialist services to marine construction companies, government organizations, engineering and environmental consultants, and the offshore oil and gas, mining, and process and defense sectors in high- technology niche areas. AMOG uses a simulation-driven design process to accelerate engineering and design development time and to meet industry demands for a more robust and optimized product.

AMOG Consulting offers a broad range of specialist services to marine construction companies, government organizations, engineering and environmental consultants, and the offshore oil and gas, mining, and process and defense sectors in high-technology niche areas.
