Tower 185, Frankfurt a. M., Germany

Tower 185 in Frankfurt‘s banking district is one of the four tallest skyscrapers in Germany, extending over 50 floors with floor space of approximately 100,000 m². Full HVAC manage-ment and room automation are implemented with a Beckhoff automation platform and operated directly by means of a shared building management system. This allows flexible room usage, definition of different utilisation scenarios, simplified controlling and benchmarking, as well as maintenance management for all building systems. The building was awarded LEED Gold certification as a “Green Building” in recognition of its energy efficiency. The control architecture for processing the 60,000 data points is based on 170 CX9010 Embedded PCs, 500 CX9001 devices, as well as 80 C6925 Industrial PCs.

Park Hotel Vitznau, Switzerland

The Park Hotel Vitznau, a luxury 5-star hotel, combines historical ambience with all the latest comforts for its guests. The fact that the complex building operation can be organised so efficiently and luxuriously is largely a benefit of the holistic PC- and BACnet-based building automation solution from Beckhoff, which integrates about 10,000 data points.

The historic Dolder Grand, which was reopened in 2008 following renovation by British architect Norman Foster, is a luxury hotel. The integral building automation solution comprises all buil-ding systems from HVAC management to lighting to media control, with no less than 100,000 data points being controlled.
