A man was sitting on the ice. The sailors carried him carefully and took him to the Captain. Captain asked him what the huge figure was. Victor Frankenstein started to write down his story, and each evening he read what he had written to the Captain.

Take 1

Suddenly a huge fork of lightning hit the ground. Victor saw how strong electricity was and he began to read all the books that he could find about electricity and its terrible power.

Take 2

He wanted to use electricity to help people, and he wanted to discover the secrets of life. Then one day, the answer came to him. Suddenly he was sure that he knew the secret of life. The professor and other scientists helped him very much. And he got him his own laboratory for the work.

Take 3

In his laboratory he made a body. He had wanted to make a beautiful man, but the face of the creature was horrible. Its legs and arms were the right shape, but they were huge.

At about one o'clock in the morning the lightning came. And the elec-tricity from the lightning travelled down the mast to the machine. Slowly, ter-ribly, the body came alive.

Take 4

The whole village came to see what was the trouble. Some of the people ran away when they saw the monster, but the others shouted and threw stones at him. They wanted to kill the creature. He was badly hurt, but he escaped and ran into the open country.

Take 5

One day the monster saw his own face. It was a terrible face. He understood why people were frightened, why they shouted and threw stones. He decided to take revenge on Frankenstein.

Take 6

Monster : “The child fought and screamed, and I put my hand round child’s neck to stop him shouting. In a moment, the child lay dead at my feet. I looked down at child’s body, and was pleased with what I had done. I knew that the death of this child would hurt you, Victor Frankenstein.”

Take 7

Monster : “You must make another creature like me.”Victor : “I shall never make another creature like you”Monster : “You have destroyed all my hopes of happiness, I shall be with you on your wedding night.”

Take 8

Frankenstein could not find the creature, and he began to hope that the creature had not followed them to the hotel.

But suddenly, he heard a loud and terrible scream. It came from his room. The scream came again, and he ran to his room. One the bed, Elizabeth lay still, in the cold sleep of death.

Take 9

Monster : “My own death is near. I shall build a great fire, and lie down on it to die. I shall welcome the pain of the fire, because it will help me to forget the pain in my heart. And when the fire has died down, I shall be at peace.”
