3. ORCHESTRA LAYOUT
ACTIVITY 1
TEXT:
The family just in front of the conductor is the string family. It goes, from left to right, from the highest to the lowest instrument of this family. Violins are divided in two groups (firsts and seconds). Double basses sit behind the cellos. The piano sits in the smallest place on the left, next to the violins. The harp is beside it.
Percussion instruments sit at the very back of the orchestra. In front of them is the brass section (trumpets, trombones and tubas from left to right). A row in front of them, we find clarinets, bassoons and French horns from left to right. Oboes sit in front of the bassoons. Flutes are next to them, behind the violas.
