Instructor, Plumbing (Term) Construction Trades Applicants are to clearly demonstrate how they satisfy the selection criteria in their written submissions and must identify the competition number they are applying for in the subject line of the email.

This competition may be used to establish a 12 month eligibility list of qualified candidates for future vacancies.

DUTIES Reporting to the Chair of the Construction Trades department, the Instructor is required to deliver both the theoretical and practical aspects of Plumbing to apprentices and pre-employment students in the Plumbing program, including instruction into related trades. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, trade safety, tools and equipment, gas fitting, piping and materials, regulations and project installation and plumbing code. Duties include, but are not limited to: development and modification of curriculum, conduct student assessment and counseling, perform lab and classroom facility design and setup, maintain lab and classroom equipment and perform related administrative responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Valid inter-provincial journeyperson's certificate in Plumbing • Significant related industry experience in the commercial and/or residential aspects of the trade • Experience using a variety of hand tools and machines • Experience reading blueprints • Effective verbal and written communication skills • Effective interpersonal skills • Effective leadership skills • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings • Ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes • Ability to present material to diverse groups with the use of appropriate technology • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) • Values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion • Commitment to lifelong learning

ASSETS • Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) or Technical Vocational Diploma • Valid journeyperson’s certificate in Gasfitter A or B • Post-secondary instructional experience • A network of contacts within industry • Ability to work remotely • Experience with online instruction and learning
