Setup and Operation

1. Set the base plate near the end of the conduit.2. Install the fixed leg into the base plate. Secure the fixed leg with the pin.3. Install the adjustable leg. Set it to the same level as the end of the conduit. Secure the adjustable leg with the pin.4. Slide your Milwaukee Hole Hawg® into the mounting frame. Close the chuck onto the spindle. Tighten the chuck securely. Set the Hole Hawg® to LOW SPEED.5. Install the mounting frame onto the adjustable leg. Secure the adjustable leg with the pin.6. Use a rope with a minimum average breaking strength of 4.5 kN (1000 lb). Wrap the rope around the capstan two or three times.7. Adjust the position of the Pull-It 1000 so that the end of the mounting frame is against the end of the conduit. Route the rope and position the puller so that the rope does not contact the edge of the conduit, pull box, or any other surface. See the illustrations.

8. Start the electric drill by rotating the Pull-It 1000’s switch lever. Pull on the rope to produce some tension. The rope will begin to advance.9. Maintain tension on the rope.• The rope will slip on the capstan during normal operation. Keep the rope moving so that the capstan does not contact one spot on the rope for more than a few seconds. Otherwise, the rope will heat up quickly and it may break.• Do not exceed about 45 N (10 Ib) of tension on the rope. If the pull becomes difficult, add another wrap or two of rope to the capstan.• If excessive force becomes necessary, stop the pull and inspect the setup.10. When the cable or wire appears at the end of the conduit, switch the electric drill OFF.

Maintain steady tensionon this end of the pull

Note: For an alternative setup, mount the Pull-It 1000 directlyto the fixed leg or to the base.
