BRAND’S Sudoku Thailand International Open 2012

Tournament Rules

1. The contestants are required to show up and to be seated at specified table as schedule. In each round, every player will start to play at the same time. If contestants are late, they will still be in the competition with remaining time in that round.

2. When a contestant already completes puzzles, he/she will have to submit his/her answer paper by him/herself at referee table. Time will be recorded and no any further correction is permitted.

3. After submission of paper, contestants are asked to leave competition area immediately.

4. Use only blue pen or pencil to fill the answer. 5. There might be some noise around competition area. It is recommended for

contestants to prepare your own earplugs to use for relieve the sound during the play.

6. Schedule is subjected to change. Please follow the announcement from tournament referee again at the venue.

7. The decision by referee will be final.

How to count the score

1. Puzzle Score. If the contestants can solve Sudoku puzzles correctly within given time. They will get the score specified for each puzzle.

2. Time Bonus Score. There will be time limit for each round. If a contestant can solve all puzzles correctly within given time, he/she will get time bonus score from remaining time. One minute counts for 3 points. Seconds are disregarded. (The contestants will not receive time bonus score if there is incomplete or incorrect solution.) For example: If time limit is 30 minutes and Mr.Z can finish it correctly within 20 minutes and 40 seconds. Mr. Z’s time bonus score for this round will be 27 points. (Remaining time is 9 minutes and 20 seconds. Therefore, 9 minutes will be used to calculate time bonus score multiplied by 3. So, total time bonus score is 27 points.)

How to Rank

Preliminary Rounds 1. After finishing preliminary rounds, top five contestants in each division will

be qualified into final round. 2. In case, score of two or more contestants are even, these rules will be

taken into consideration: a. Total time used. This will be counted cumulatively for each round

that all puzzles are solved CORRECTLY and COMPLETELY. In case, solving puzzle(s) is(are) incorrect or incomplete, it will be considered as full time limit used for that round.

b. In case [a.] cannot justify ranking, the result of last preliminary round will be taken into consideration. The contestant with better result will get higher rank. Still, if it cannot justify ranking, the result of previous round will be considered respectively.

c. In case [a.] and [b.] cannot justify ranking, the total time used of all preliminary rounds will be taken into consideration, regardless of those solving puzzles are correct or complete or not. The contestants with less total time used will get higher rank.

Final Round

1. All finalists will be competing on giant Sudoku board on the stage. Given time limit is 30 minutes. Final puzzle for OPEN division is Samurai Sudoku (1 puzzle). For amateur division, Wing-3 Sudoku (1 puzzle) will be used.

2. The contestant who can solve final Sudoku puzzle correctly with least time used will be the winner of the tournament. The rest of contestants still have to finish the puzzles or time limit reached.

3. In case, there is no contestant completing puzzles within time limit. 5-minute extra time will be given.

4. After 5-minute extra time, if there is still no contestant who can complete the puzzle, the result will be judged based on the number of correct answers. The contestant with the highest number of correct answers will be the winner.

5. In case score in [4.] is equal, the result of preliminary rounds will be taken into consideration. The contestant with the highest total score in preliminary rounds will get higher rank.

6. In case score in [4.] and [5.] are still equal, the rules to justify ranking in preliminary rounds will be applied.

กติกาการแขงขัน

1. ผูแขงขันตองมาถึงสนามและน่ังประจําโตะแขงขันท่ีระบุไวตามเวลาที่กําหนด การแขงขันในแตละรอบจะเริ่มพรอมกัน หากผูแขงขันมาสาย ใหแขงขันตอโดยใชเวลาที่เหลอืในรอบนั้นๆ

2. เม่ือผูแขงขันทําปริศนาเสรจ็แลวจะตองสงกระดานคําตอบดวยตนเองที่โตะกรรมการหรือกรรมการประจําสนามแขงขัน ทางกรรมการจะทําการบันทึกเวลาที่ทานทําได และไมสามารถแกไขคําตอบใดๆ ได

3. หลังจากท่ีผูแขงขันสงกระดาษคําตอบแลว ขอใหออกจากบริเวณสนามแขงขันทันที 4. อนุญาตใหใชปากกาสนี้ําเงินหรอืดินสอในการเติมคาํตอบเทาน้ัน 5. บรรยากาศของสนามแขงขัน อาจมีเสียงบาง นักกีฬาสามารถเตรียมที่อุดหู (earplug) มาใชเพือ่

บรรเทาเสยีงตางๆ ในระหวางการแขงขนัได 6. กําหนดการแขงขันอาจมีการเปลี่ยนแปลง ขอใหผูแขงขันติดตามประกาศจากกรรมการประจํา

สนามแขงขันอีกครั้ง 7. การตัดสินโดยคณะกรรมการฯถอืเปนส้ินสุด

วิธีการนับคะแนน

1. คะแนนประจําปริศนา หากผูแขงขันสามารถแกโจทยปริศนาซูโดกุไดภายในเวลาท่ีกําหนดและถูกตอง ทานจะไดรับคะแนนประจําปริศนาตามท่ีระบไุวในแตละขอ

2. คะแนนโบนสัเวลา ในแตละรอบจะมีการกําหนดเวลาในการแกโจทยปริศนาไว หากผูแขงขันสามารถแกโจทยปริศนาทั้งหมดไดถูกตองภายในเวลาที่กําหนด ทานจะไดรับคะแนนโบนัสเวลาเพิ่มขึ้นอีก นาทีละ 3 คะแนน โดยคํานวณจากเวลาที่เหลืออยูเปนนาที (เศษของนาทีปดทิ้ง) คณูดวย 3 (ถาแกโจทยปริศนาไมถูกตอง จะไมไดรับคะแนนโบนัสนี้)

เชน เวลาในรอบกาํหนดให 30 นาที แตนาย Z ทําเสร็จและถูกตองภายในเวลา 20 นาที 40

วินาที นาย Z จะไดคะแนนโบนัสเวลาในรอบนี ้เทากับ 9 นาที (เวลาเหลือ 9 นาที 20 วินาที

แตเศษของนาทีปดทิ้ง เหลอื 9 นาที) x 3 คะแนนตอนาที = คะแนนโบนัสเวลา 27 คะแนน

การตัดสนิ

รอบคัดเลือก

1) หลังจากผานการแขงขันรอบคัดเลอืก ทางคณะกรรมการฯ จะทําการรวมคะแนนรอบคัดเลอืกท้ังหมด ผูแขงขันที่มีคะแนนสูงที่สุด 5 อนัดับแรก ในแตละรุน จะไดผานเขาสูรอบชิงชนะเลศิตอไป

2) หากคะแนนของผูแขงขันเทากัน จะพจิารณาจากหลักเกณฑดังนี้ a. เวลาที่ใชในการแกโจทยปริศนาและตอบถูกตองในทุกรอบรวมกัน หากแกโจทยปริศนาไม

ถูกตองหรือไมสมบูรณ จะถือวาใชเวลาหมดตามที่กําหนดไวในแตละรอบ

b. หากหลักเกณฑตามขอ a เทากัน จะนําคะแนนท่ีทําไดในรอบที ่4 มาพจิารณาเทยีบกัน ผูแขงขันคนใดไดคะแนนมากกวาจะไดอันดับท่ีดีกวา หากยังเทากันอกี ก็จะพจิารณาเทียบคะแนนในรอบกอนหนาขึ้นไปตามลําดับ

c. หากหลักเกณฑตามขอ a และ b เทากันอีก จะพจิารณาดูจากเวลารวมท่ีผูแขงขนัสงคําตอบแกคณะกรรมการทุกรอบรวมกัน (ไมคํานงึถึงวาปริศนาที่ทําน้ันถูกตองหรือสมบูรณหรือไม) ใครใชเวลานอยกวา จะไดอนัดับที่ดีกวา

รอบชงิชนะเลิศ

1) ผูแขงขันที่ผานเขาสูรอบชิงชนะเลศิในแตละรุน จะตองทําการแขงขนัแกโจทยปริศนา ซูโดกุที่กําหนดใหบนกระดานยักษบนเวท ีโดยแตละรุนจะมีเวลาให 30 นาที โดยรุนโอเพน จะใชซโูดกุแบบ Samurai 1 กระดาน สวนรุนสมัครเลนจะใช ซูโดกุแบบ Wing-3 1 กระดาน

2) ผูแขงขันที่แกโจทยปรศินาทุกขอไดถูกตองและเรว็ทีสุ่ดจะเปนผูชนะเลศิการแขงขัน สวนผูแขงขันคนอื่นๆ จะตองทําการแขงขันตอไปจนกระท่ังทุกคนทาํเสร็จ หรือเวลาท่ีกําหนดใหหมดลง

3) ในกรณีท่ีไมมีผูแขงขันผูใดสามารถแกโจทยปริศนาภายในเวลาที่กําหนดใหไดสําเร็จ ทางคณะกรรมการฯ จะตอเวลาใหอีก 5 นาที

4) หากหลังจากตอเวลาแลว ยังไมมีผูแขงขันผูใดแกโจทยทั้งหมดไดสําเร็จ จะตัดสินโดยพิจารณาจากจํานวนตําแหนงตัวเลขทีต่อบไดถูกตอง ใครตอบถูกมากท่ีสุดจะเปนผูชนะเลศิ

5) หากคะแนนใน ขอ 4) เทากันอีก จะนําคะแนนในรอบคัดเลือกของผูแขงขันที่มีคะแนน เทากันมาพจิารณา ใครมีคะแนนรวมในรอบคัดเลอืกมากกวาจะเปนผูที่ไดอันดับที่ดีกวา

6) กรณีท่ีคะแนนในขอ 4) และขอ 5) เทากัน จะพจิารณาอันดับตามหลกัเกณฑการตัดสนิในรอบคัดเลือก
