Using your Sunbeam MultiMincer®

Before using your MincerWashallattachmentsinwarmsoapywaterusingamilddetergent.Dryeachpartthoroughlybeforeuse.

Beforeyouassemblethemincerensurethatthepowercordisunplugged.

NOTE:Allattachmentsmustbefirmlyinplacebeforeusingtheappliance.Ensurethatthemincingscrewandbladearefirmlyinplaceinsidethemincerbodyandthemincerdiscsorsausagemakerattachmentsaresecuredwiththefasteningdial.

Fitting and using the mincing discs1. Placethemincerbody,facingyouona

level,drysurface.

2. Fitthemincingscrewinsidethechute.

3. Fitthebladeoverthemincingscrewensuringthattheflatsideoftheblade(withtheletter‘B’)facesthemincingscrew,awayfromthemincingdisc.

4. Fitthedisc(dependingonthetypeofminceyourrequire,thiswilleitherbeafine,mediumorcoarsedisc).

5. Thefasteningdialthenfitsoverthediscandscrewsintoplace.Donottightenthisfasteningdialyetasitwillbehardertolockintothemincerbody.SeeFig1.

6. Alignchuteintothemincerbody,usingarrowsasaguide.Pressandholdthelock/unlockbuttontotwistandlockintoplace.

7. Oncethemincerbodyisinplace,tightenthefasteningdialusingthespannertoensureallelementsaresecurelyinplace.Seefigure2.

8. Placethefoodcatcherunderneaththefasteningdialformincecollectionandthefeedertrayontopofthemincerchute.Seefigure2.

9. Placepreparedmeatinfeedertray.Plugthepowercordintoa230-240VACpoweroutletandturnthepower‘ON’.

10.Switchtheminceronbypressing‘ON’button.Usingthefoodpusher,gentlypushmeatthroughthechute.

NOTE:Donotuseexcessiveforcetopushmeatthroughthemincingchuteasitcoulddamagetheappliance.

CAUTION: Donotuseanythingelseapartfromthepushersuppliedwiththismincertopushmeatthroughthechute.NEVERuseyourhands/fingerstopushmeatthroughthechute.

5. Whileholdingthesausagenozzleinplace,screwthefasteningdialoverthenozzleandlooselysecurebyscrewingonthefasteningdial.SeeFigure3.

6. Alignchuteintothemincerbodyusingarrowsasaguide.Pressthelock/unlockbuttonandtwisttolockintoplace.

7. Tightenthefasteningdialusingthespannertoensureallelementsaresecurelyinplace.

8. Placethefoodcatcherunderneaththefasteningdialforsausagecollectionandplacethefeedertrayontopofthechute.SeeFig4.

9. Ifusingfreshsausageskins,soakitincoldwaterforapproximately30minutesbeforeusingonthenozzleattachment.

10.Plugthepowercordintoa230-240VACpoweroutletandturnthepower‘ON’.

11.Switchonmincer.

12.Usingthepusher,pushthesausagemixtureintothechute.

13.Asthemixturecomesthroughthenozzle,easetheskinoffasitfills.Twisttheskinatthedesiredlengthtoformindividualsausagesonceallofthecasingsarefilled.Seetipsonsausagemakingonpage12forfurtherinformationonsausagemaking.

Storing your Sunbeam MultiMincer®

TheSunbeamMultiMincer®wasdesignedsothatallattachmentscanbestoredintwouniquestoragecomponents.

1. Attachmentscanbestoredinsidethefoodpusherasshownbelow:

2. Storageoffoodpusher,cleaningdiscspannerandfoodpusherinFoodcatcher/Feedertray.

3. Cord Storage:Thepowercordcanbestoredbypushingitintothebackofthemotorbase.

Handy Hints for Mincing

• Removealllargepiecesoffatfrommeatbeforemincing.

• Forfattycutsofmeatwerecommendthatyoucutmeatinto5cmcubes.Forleancutsofmeat;cutintostripsapproximately15cmlongand5cmthickorintocubes.

• Removeanybonesfrommeatasthismaydamagethemincer.

• Tomakesurethatallmeathascomethroughmincing,placea20cmsheetofcrushedbakingpaperintothemincerafterthelastpieceofmeat.Thiswillpushthroughanyremainingmeatandwillnotdamagethemincer.

• Ifchangingmincingdiscsorchangingtoanotherattachment,alwaysensurethatanymeatthatisaroundthefasteningdialorbladeisremoved.Thiswillensurethatallpartswillreassembleandoperatecorrectly.

• Mincedmeatshouldbeusedwithin1-2days.Freezeuncookedmincethatwillnotbeusedwithinthistimeframe.

• Mincecanbefrozenfor2-3months

• Thawminceinrefrigeratorovernight,DONOTrefreezeuncookedmeat.

• Whencookingminceitneedstobecookedthoroughly.Mincethathasbeenusedforhamburgersormeatpattiesshouldbecookeduntilwelldone.

Handy Hints for Sausage Making

• Saltisanimportantcomponentofsausagemaking.Itisresponsibleforthecontrolofgrowthofmicro-organisms.Italsoaidsindissolvingthemyosin(protein)outofthemusclefibreswhichthenactsasagluetobindthemeattogether.

• Freshlymadesausagesarebetterwhenallowedtositintherefrigeratorforaminimumof12hoursandforupto24hours.

• Freshsausagesarehighlyperishableproductsastheydonotcontainthepreservativesthatarepresentinmoststore-boughtsausages.Theyshouldbecookedwithin2-3daysofbeingmadeorfrozen.

• Ideally,sausagesshouldcontainupto30%fatcontenttoprovideatenderandmoistproduct.

• Sausagesshouldbethoroughlycookedtokillallmicrobes.Internaltemperaturesmustreach70-75°c.

• Intentionalpiercingofsausageskinreleasesmuchneededmoisturebutpreventsthesausagefrompossiblysplittingandbeingdisfigured.

• Thingtolookforwhenmakingsausages:

• Choose good quality ingredients

• Fat to meat ratio (30:70)

• Spices and seasoning should be combined in amounts that compliment the type of meat in the sausage.

• Casingscanbepurchasedfromthebutcherthathavesuppliedyouwithyourfreshmeat.Ifpreservedinsalt,itshouldbesoakedinlukewarmwaterforupto30minutesbeforeuse.Flushskinswithcoldwatertoexpelexcesssalt.

• Unusedfreshcasingsmustbedrained,coveredwithsaltandfrozen.

• Sausagesshouldbestoredinanairtightcontainerorsealedwithclingfilmintherefrigerator.

• Agoodwaytomakesurethatallthesausagemincehascomethroughtheminceristobreakup1-2slicesofbreadandpushthoughmincer,thiswillforceanyremainingmixtureintothecasing.

• Gentlecookingovermediumheatpreventsinteriorfromboilingwhichinturnburststheskin,leakingoutmoistureandflavour.Thisthenproducesahardtexturedproduct.

Care and Cleaning

Whenyouhavecompletedmincing,unplugthemincerfromthepoweroutlet.

Ensurethatallaccessoriesandattachmentsarewashedthoroughlywithhot,soapywater.

Toremovemeatthatisstuckinthefineandmediumdiscs,aligntheholesofthemincingdiscwiththecleaningdisc.Pushthecleaningdiscintothemincingdisc.Asshowninfigure1.

Anymeatstuckinthemincingdiscwillbepushedout.Anyremainingmeatthatisstillinthemincingdiscshouldbewashedoffusingasoftspongeandhotsoapywater.

Toremovefoodsfromthecoarsedisc,rinsediscundercold,runningwatertoforcemeatfromholes.Anyremainingmeatstuckonthemincingdiscshouldbewashedoffusingasoftspongeandhotsoapywater.

Ensurethatallattachmentsanddiscsaredriedthoroughlybeforestoring.Ifdiscsarenotdried,rustmayoccuronthediscs.

Tip:Tostoremincingdiscs,werecommendrubbingalittlevegetableoilontheoutsideofthediscs.

Warning:Takecareinwashingallattachmentcomponentstoensurethatthereisnofoodparticlesleftin/aroundthemincingdiscs,sausage/kebbemakingattachments,bladeandmincingscrew.Wedonotrecommenddishwashinganyofthemincingattachments.

Note: Alwaysunplugthemincertoclean.

Donotwash/immersethemincerbodyinwater–cleanthispartonlybywipingusingadampcloth.
