I have used a variety of standardized and self developed assessments. I am completely transparent and communicate the results in a developmentally appropriate manner to students. I believe that teachers and school officials should educate parents about what test results mean so that they can develop a clear picture of their child’s learning without any confusion or misconceptions. It is also important to use multiple assessments to develop an understanding of a child’s needs.

“Fakebook” Pages

Students created “fakebook” pages for characters in historical fiction novels they read. This activity is an example of an activity that is defined by technology. Generation Z students are well connected through social media. Activities that tap into their knowledge of social networking are more authentic and allow students to make stronger connections to standards and content.
