1. Chan, Kwok Wing

BIOGRAPHY

Tom graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Structural Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and currently continues his study for MSc in Civil Infrastructural Engineering and Management at HKUST.

Nowadays, a professional engineer not only consider safe and sustainable perspective with technical knowledge but also aware the interaction between social, economic and political. As a nominated ICE G&S committee member candidate, I pledge to raise our members’ awareness by providing them with up-to date information of the industry and to foster the interaction between chartered member and G&S member.

With all organizing experience learnt in last session and broad exposure as a CEG, I am confident to take up bigger responsibility in the committee by contributing in sharpening technical and interpersonal skills of our member in this coming session.

2. Cheng, Wai Ki Raymond

BIOGRAPHY

I am an engineering geologist with AECOM practicing in the field of engineering geology and geotechnical

engineering since graduation from the University of British Columbia in Canada. My experience includes

natural terrain hazard studies; landslide mapping and investigation; ground investigation; design of landslip

prevention and mitigation works; design of site formation works; and construction supervision for site

formation and foundation works.

I have participated in the Youth Entrepreneurs Development Council (YDC) School-Company-Parent (SCP)

Program by working as one of the company ambassadors. The aim of the program is to promote

entrepreneurial spirit and career planning to secondary school students. I have organized various

workshops, career talk and company visit through the YDC SCP program. I am also a member of the

community services team of AECOM’s Employee Engagement Committee and work as volunteer in various

community services events.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

I’ve been actively contributed to the ICE HKA G&S Division by working in the Site Visit and Seminar Team

for the past year as a member of organizing committee and person-in-charge for a number of site visits and

seminars such as mock Chartered Professional Review workshops and one-day seminar.

My experience and enthusiasm have equipped me to contribute to the development of the ICE. I would

proactively work with the Committee to promote the goals and values of the Institution. I kindly request your

support for my nomination and would be honoured to serve our members in the coming year.

3. Cheung, Yu Tang

BIOGRAPHY

After graduating from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) with a bachelor’s degree

in Civil and Structural Engineering, I joined Atkins China Limited as a Graduate Engineer working in the

Geotechnical Department.

In the past two years, I was the committee of ICE HKA G&S, responsible for organizing Delegation Trip mainly.

I have already acquired sufficient experience in promotion, sponsorship and delegation planning. I have also

assisted other committees in organizing Technical Seminars, Workshops etc. for ICE HKA G&S members.

At the same time, I'm currently a committee of HKUST Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Association

(HKUST CEEAA) and Atkins Young Professionals (AYP), dedicating myself to the industry and the company.

On the other hand, I'm also one of The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Protégé 2015/2016, who will

shadow the HKIE President and gain insight into the workings of the HKIE. It even provides me with a golden

opportunity to observe how senior figures in the industry operate by attending important events or meetings

with senior members of the industry, which in turn broadening my exposure outside working environment and

in public affairs arena.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

After graduating from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), I joined Atkins China

Limited as a Graduate Engineer.

In the past two years, I was the committee of ICE HKA G&S, responsible for organizing Delegation Trip mainly.

4. Chiong, Hoi Ki

BIOGRAPHY

Jenny is currently employed as a Graduate Engineer in Ove Arup and Partners Hong Kong Limited after

completing a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in the University of Hong Kong. Being the committee member

of Civil Engineering Society, ENS, HKUSU, she was well trained in coordination and team working skills. She

has experience in organizing different kinds of activities including Career Talks, Academic Forum, Civil Annual

Dinner, etc. when she was in University.

She has also joined the organizing committee of ICE HKA G&S at the Group of “Civil Engineering Outreach”

which aims to promote Civil Engineering to secondary school students. She is now working on “Future

Engineers Project 2016” which is a day event that jointly organized by different professional institutions.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

Jenny is passionate in devoting more to the Civil Engineering industry. Being the nominated ICE HKA G&S

Committee, she hopes to connect people in this industry and promote Civil Engineering to next generation. She

would like to take part in bringing more technical skills to student members on top of their knowledge from

lectures. As she believes learning is always the first thing for a young engineer, she is eager to help in delivering

various engineering issues to graduate members to pursuit a professional career together.

5. Fung, Ka Yi Nickola

BIOGRAPHY

As a graduate member of The Institution of Civil Engineers since 2013, I have deeply understanding of

objectives of the institution. If I elected, I will help the young engineers connect effectively with the diverse range

of members in The Institution of Civil Engineers and our communities. By facilitating dynamic and effective

communications and activities we can build up our own unique capability, and at the same time help members

to develop their personal roles in the industries.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

I worked in Aecom Asia Co. Ltd in Geotechnical business line since 2013 and graduated in The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I joined various activities held by the ICE G&S, like some technical seminars and Singapore delegation in 2015. Also I am the helper of the delegation team in 2015-16 session.

6. Kwok, Ho Yeung

BIOGRAPHY

Howard read civil engineering in Imperial College, London. During his 4-year stay in London, he received elite education and acquired hands-on experience in design and construction projects whilst being nurtured by various cultures.

In university, Howard involved in the Raincatcher project, which aimed at providing clean water in Tanzania. As a member of the fund-raising team, he organised water-carrying charity walk and charity concert. Howard also engaged in Imperial College Cinema Club and facilitated the operation of the cinema.

Howard strongly believes that experience is the most valuable asset for engineers. To share experience with juniors, he took up the role of teaching assistant and taught problem solving skills in tutorial sessions. It allowed him to exchange knowledge and ideas with students from different years. It also polished Howard’s communication skills and rewarded him with satisfaction in the teaching process.

Currently, Howard assisted ICE HKA G&S in Civil Engineering Outreach branch. Part of his contribution is to

advertise engineering among secondary students. In the future, Howard would like to take up positions in the

ICE HKA G&S committee board to further promote engineering to the younger generations.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

I believe that experience is the most valuable asset for engineers - the idea of experience sharing is at utmost

importance. As engineers always work in teams, the enrichment in knowledge would benefit the teams as a

whole. In particular, I would like to emphasise the transmission of knowledge to the younger generations. If

they could succeed our knowledge and passion towards engineering, they would be better prepared for

pursuing a career in it. Through ICE HKA G&S, I would like to take up roles in promoting civil engineering to

the youngsters and raising the profile of civil engineers.

7. Lai, Siu Man Mandy

BIOGRAPHY

Lai Siu Man, Mandy graduated with a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 2012 and is now pursuing a master degree in Civil Engineering.

After the graduation, Mandy joined a contractor company as an Assistant Engineer in the project of Nam Cheong Property Foundation removal and removing of existing bored piles. She was responsible for monitoring the progress of the removal of 5 nos. 2.8m diameter bored piles’ resting on rock, with lengths varying from 65m to 100m in Nam Cheong. She also communicated with sub-contractors and engineer representatives to tackle the construction problems technically and practically.

Currently, Mandy is working as a Graduate Engineer in AECOM and involving in project management role. She assists in preparing the cost estimate and tender documents for the work, liaison with clients to ensure the requirements to be incorporated in the contract and preparation of materials for public consultation.

Mandy is active in participating and organizing activities within the AECOM Employee Engagement

Committee. She has previously held position as the Chairlady of Company Fun Day and Spring Dinner for

WUD.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

During the Singapore Delegation 2015, I have gained the knowledge from exchanging the experiences and

ideas with other engineers. I believe that it is essential and strengthens the connection between engineers in

Hong Kong.

Being the committee member of ICE G&S, I am confident in taking up the role using my past experiences in

organising activities. I believe that it is a valuable networking opportunity and the knowledge I have gained

through events organising allow me to enhance my personal development in civil engineering fields.

8. Lam, Elaine Jennifer

BIOGRAPHY

Elaine Lam graduated from the University of Hong Kong under BEng in Civil Engineering. She is currently

employed as a geotechnical engineering graduate in the Geotechnical Engineer Office (GEO).

With enthusiasm in gaining international exposure, Elaine went on exchange studies at the University of New

South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney. Apart from major cultural exchange activities with local students and

residents, she also actively shared academic ideas, as well as some civil engineering practice in Hong Kong

with other classmates in the university. Elaine was also involved in organizing annual dinner and other

orientation activities for newly recruited members in Asian Music Group.

Being passionate in contributing towards the industry, Elaine joined the Civil Engineering Outreach (CEO)

Team under the ICE HKA G&S, and participated as an organizing committee member for different events,

including a 4-day workshop for secondary school students to promote civil engineering to teenagers in Hong

Kong. She also served the ICE HKA G&S as helper in a site visit to the Shatin to Central Link Diamond Hill

station.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

As a graduate engineer, I realise civil engineering is everywhere in our lives. It is however ironic that many

people are unaware of civil engineer’s contribution to the society. Being a current CEO team member, I

therefore pledge to pass the team's goal on: promoting civil engineering to the public and youngsters, our

potential future engineers. For graduates and students, I would make every endeavour to bring more

interesting activities that develop their technical knowledge and interpersonal skills, preparing them to be all-

rounded young professionals.

With my experience in organizing activities, I am confident to take up more responsibilities ahead.

9. Lam, Yat Hang

BIOGRAPHY

Chris Lam joined the MTR Corporation as a Graduate Engineer in 2013. With this role, he was given responsibility from assisting divisional strategy decision making to construction management works of various railway projects. He was also actively participated in the planning and execution of considerable corporate events equipping him with an all-round exposure. Chris has received the MTR Living Value Award for three times. He is currently on secondment to the Ove Arup & Partners for gaining geotechnical design experience. Aside from his work, Chis is also diligent and committed to his profession. He joined the ICE G&S Division as a helper in 2015 and is actively involved in organising various events. Outside of professional interest, Chris is always excited about travelling and Architecture.

Chris received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Hong Kong in 2013 and is now

pursuing a Master of Science (Engineering) degree in Infrastructure Project Management.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

High quality infrastructures are always recognised as the foundation of Hong Kong’s success. The development of civil engineering is thus highly correlated to Hong Kong’s competitiveness. Now that I am seeking election as a committee member of the ICE G&S Division, I am planning to stimulate and support the development of both the Institution and its treasurable members. With my experience and all-round exposure gained from on-job training and participating in ICE events, I am confident that I have prepared myself with refined ability to overcome any challenges ahead and take up the responsibilities.

10. Leung, Yu Pong

BIOGRAPHY

I am Leung Yu Pong Anthony, working as an Assistant Engineer on Black & Veatch Hong Kong Limited. I am

major in Civil & Structural Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).

During my university life, I have participated different exchange programs at HKUST, such as Regular

Exchange Program in Singapore and summer exchange in Korea, I like to expose myself in different culture

though communicate with people all around the world and learn about the development of civil engineering,

urban planning of different countries. These skills make me further determine my willingness to be a

successful civil engineer with international vision.

Apart from that, I was a co-opted member of Personal Development team of ICE G & S Division 2015-16.

During this session, I had an opportunity to serve ICE members and help to host different events for G&S

members. I have gained much invaluable experience. This year, I would like to be a committee member to

do much better and make much commitment to the ICE members.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

Determining to be a professional civil engineer and promote civil engineering to the public, I’d like to be a

G&S committee in ICE Hong Kong Association. Simply finishing my works is not what I desire. It is meaningful

and exciting for me to put much more effort and make contribution to the civil engineering industry through

improving the networking and knowledge-exchange with other members and senior though hosting events

for ICE. It is my honors to give a helping hand to let more graduate and students familiar with the civil

engineering industry and ICE.

11. Li, Pak Hei

BIOGRAPHY

Li Pak Hei, Marco graduated from the University of Hong Kong with Bachelor degree in Engineering (Civil

Engineering) in 2015. He is currently working as a geotechnical engineering graduate in Geotechnical

Engineering Office, Civil Engineering and Development Department.

During his study, He was an executive committee member of Civil Engineering Society, Engineering Society,

HKUSU and gained hands-on experiences of organizing a board range of activities, managing human

resources as well as promoting general welfare to members. He also gained deeper insight into ICE through

participating ICE events like ICE Model Building Competition 2014 and being a helper of ICE HKA Annual

Dinner and seminars.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

Joining ICE in 2013 not only connected me to a great network of engineers, but also provided me with huge

amount of resources which could help me excel in the engineering field. Since then I have realized the

importance of ICE HKA G&S to graduates and students as we work our way up to become professional

engineers. I am eager to increase graduate and student members’ involvement in ICE events as well as

enhancing connection among ICE, graduates and students so members can enhance personal

development, gain international exposure and ultimately get the most out of ICE.

12. Ng, Tsz Man

BIOGRAPHY

Max Ng is a Graduate Engineer in Projects Division, MTR Corporation. After obtaining his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Hong Kong in 2015, he joined MTR Projects for his interest in transportation engineering.

Max believes that engineers shall take a pivotal role to expedite society progress. His experience as Engineering Officer in Pathfinder Cambodia Volunteer Service reinforced this belief, when in 2014 his team designed and built a RC platform with water filters, toilets and related sanitation facilities for 200 students in a flooding school in rural Cambodia.

As relatively fresh in the profession, Max is eager to meet, learn from and work with other talents. His role of Deputy Chairman in the HKIE Student Chapter – HKU Session 2014-15 granted him chances to organise activities with and for the students from various tertiary institutions. This further motivated him to engage in professional groups. Earlier this year, Max and his team participated in the first ICE HKA G&S Communications Competition and cherished it as a fruitful learning opportunity for young engineers.

Currently a helper in the task force Civil Engineering Outreach, Max looks forward to further opportunities to

endeavour and serve with other enthusiastic engineers in G&S.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

ICE HKA G&S has been instrumental in promoting the institution and facilitating the development of young members. It is my hope to sustain this mission, with focus on overseas delegation to further augment our member gains by bringing new thoughts with wider global perspectives through exchange opportunities with overseas members and visits. Locally, I would also like to work with other committee members to unleash member potentials and foster knowledge acquisition through seminars and site visits. The Communications Competition first held in Hong Kong last session could also be a great learning opportunity tailor-made for our young engineers and students.

13. Ong, Choon Hoong Jeff

BIOGRAPHY

After graduating from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, I joined Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited as a graduate engineer.

During my university days, I was grateful for the chance to participate the exchange programme in The University of New South Wales, Australia where I have experienced a diversified culture and broaden my horizon. Besides, I had various short term working/internship experiences in several large cities including Beijing, Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, I am one of the G&S co-opted members in 2015-2016 session and have involved in organizing or preparing several events including Mock CPR Workshop, Communication Competition, One Day Seminar and etc.

Being one of the G&S committees, I aspire to share my enthusiasm and keen to work together with other

committees to make a contribution in facilitating professional development of young members.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

I believe it will be a meaningful period to assist the professional development of G&S members.

In the past one year, I have been an active member in G&S Site Visit and Seminar Team (SST). I arranged Mock CPR Workshops to assist members in preparing their professional examination. Moreover, I organize One Day Seminar which speakers are invited to present how sustainability concepts are incorporated into engineering solutions in planning, design and construction stages by sharing several case studies.

The one year experience as a co-opted member will definitely enhance my ability in organizing better activities

to G&S members.

14. Yu, Sui King

BIOGRAPHY

Sui King Yu is a Civil Graduate Engineer at ARUP. He worked in Project Management Team in 2014-2015

as an Assistant Project Manager with experience in the overall planning, progress monitoring, and project

communication. He also coordinated with different consultants, stakeholders, and partners to deliver effective

time and programme management. In 2015-2016 session, King has been involved in ICE HKA G&S as Co-

operation Member in Personal Development Team. He has participated in various events as Person in

Charge or Organizing Committee in last session.

As a young professional, King has found great enthusiasm in the Construction Engineering field. He has

generated rich onsite experience during his various internships with AECOM and other leading companies.

King has excellent communication and analysis skills, bringing an accurate and pragmatic approach to deliver

complex projects. With Arup, he has been involved with different major projects in Hong Kong, e.g. Chu Hai

College project, Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok tunnel project and Central Kowloon Route project. In his leisure

time, King enjoys photography and biking. He was the president of the Photography society in university. He

has also completed a “round-island” biking tour in Taiwan in 2013.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

At work and in school, I gained diverse experience in organizing events such as study tours and orientation

camps. In 2015-2016 session, I involve in ICE HKA G&S as Co-operation Member in Personal Development

Team. I have participated in various events as Person in Charge or Organizing Committee. I have ambition

and passion to take the civil engineering industry to a new level. My mission is to promote ICE and the industry

to new generations; to improve social position of engineers; to create more opportunities for members to

broaden their horizon. ICE is the best platform to achieve my goals.

15. Yuen, Ka Keung

BIOGRAPHY

Yuen Ka keung, David received his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic

University. He was student member of Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) during his study at the university.

After his graduation, he joined ICE as a Graduate Member and started his Initial Professional Development

(IPD). David is enthusiastic in organizing activities. He is currently the Co-opted Member of Graduates &

Students Division 2015-16 and part of the organizing committee of the delegation team. Last year, the

delegation team successfully organized delegation to Singapore and Beijing. David is also energetic and

friendly. He participated and worked as helper in lots of large scale functions such as high table dinner and

orientation camp during his life in student’s hall of residence. He enjoys meeting new friends to share and

learn from others experience.

PLATFORM STATEMENT

Being a Co-opted Member in Institution of Civil Engineers Hong Kong Association Graduates and Students

Division in the last year is rewarding. I hope there will be opportunity for me to promote and share the

Graduates and Students Division in the coming year from the experience that I have gained. I would also like

to promote ICE HKA G&S division to other profession by organizing joint function.
