Insted of learning French
the hard way…
a
CHAMONIX Consider the Alps your
classroom. Don’t just learn French, live and breathe it.
… learn it in the Alps.
Learning French has never been so much fun! Ski, study, meet people from all over the world and be blown away by winter in Chamonix. With the highest peaks in Europe, a reputation for some of the best off-piste action, and hundreds of kilometers of pisted runs,
you can’t beat Chamonix for diversity and adventure. In the winter season the numbers swell and Chamonix comes alive. Our French courses are specifically designed for you to make the most of each day during your stay. Half of your day will be devoted to language studies
and the other half to whatever takes your fancy. We organise student activities and outings with a view to expanding your horizons, practicing your French and building new friendships. These activites are optional, Chamonix is your oyster, so do what you will.
CHAMONIX
> Chamonix’s language courses are available all year round. It’s always a good time to learn French in the Alps.
> Book a lesson or guided climb with a professional mountain guide. Our staff have great contacts and can help with discounts on equipment in selected Chamonix shops.
If you’re not a great fan of the snow, then why not come to Chamonix in the summer? There is just as much action, if not more, available during the warmer months. The wildflowers are blooming, the atmosphere is buzzing, and despite a few entertaining thunderstorms, the sun is shining.
After a challenging French lesson, head off to climb one of the many routes in
the valley. Brush up on your existing skills, push yourself to new limits or start from the beginning. Whether you prefer indoor climbing, rock climbing, alpine climbing or bouldering, Chamonix has it all. The town and surrounding areas have plenty of places to hire equipment, buy guidebooks and benefit from local advice.
If you prefer a bit more speed, get involved in some downhill mountain biking. The valley’s lift system runs from June throughout the summer, so there’s no need to knock yourself out getting to
a suitable altitude. Once you’re up, it’s all downhill from there. No matter what level or ability you are, there are adrenaline-fuelled opportunities everywhere. If you prefer to pedal at leisure there are also
easier trails to meander along. If you can’t bring your own bike or equipment with you, there are many places to hire what you need to ensure you have the ride of your life, again and again.
Chamonix is a hiker’s paradise! Pack some hiking boots alongside your French dictionary and you’re ready to hike and study in this magnificent setting. Hike the lower paths at the bottom of the valley or head up high for a different perspective and more of a challenge. If you really want to push yourself, set aside an extra week
and trek the Tour de Mont Blanc. If you’re looking for a more technical challenge, then summiting Mont Blanc is an option. This two-day ascent requires stamina at altitude, good physical condition, a high-mountain guide and a head for heights.
Ski, Surf & StudyHopefully you will have grasped our concept
of ‘ski & study’ or ‘surf & study’. We strongly
believe, and have proof in the hundreds of
successful graduates, that the learning of
something academic such as language,
is greatly enhanced by combining it with
something complimentary for the mind and
body such as sport and outdoor activities.
The fresh air, increased fitness levels and
rush of adrenaline, are the perfect foil for
the concentration and hard, mental work
involved in learning a language.
LanguagesWe offer French courses in Chamonix all year
round and in Biarritz in the summer months.
In San Sebastián and Tenerife we offer
Spanish courses all year round.
Activities & SportsInsted has worked hard to build relationships
within many sporting and social networks in
all four locations. We can book ski lessons,
surfing lessons, provide discounts for ski lift
passes, sportswear, internet cafes and of
course, accommodation. If you’re not sure
which sport will suit you the best, you can try
your hand at a few by joining our organised
activities and outings.
AccommodationWe offer accommodation alongside the
language studies or separately if you prefer.
Due to the popularity of Chamonix, Biarritz,
San Sebastián and Tenerife, accommodation
can be difficult to find, especially in the peak
seasons. We have forged relationships within
all these communities to ensure our students
have the best options available.
We try to be as flexible as possible and we
will do our best to meet any specific needs
and requirements. We do stress however that
the allocation of housing is on a first-come,
first-served basis and we cannot guarantee
any listed prices for late bookings.
Course levelsWe have language courses available to
students of all abilities and ages. The
minimum age we will accept a student is
18 years. We have courses for complete
beginners with absolutely no former
experience, up to advanced courses for
those wanting to refine the nuances of the
language.

> All our French teachers speak French as their native language and have a university degree to teach French to foreigners. Our Spanish teachers are equally qualified. Many of our teachers have also lived and taught abroad and speak other languages as well which is an advantage when teaching students of various nationalities.
> Please contact us for advice about the most suitable course for you. You can also take our online test to determine your current level of French.
> If you would like to try a new sport or activity but don’t have the gear, or you simply don’t want the hassle of bringing your own equipment, there are many places throughout all four of our locations where you can hire whatever you need. For example: skis, snowboards, helmets, harnesses, walking poles, mountain bikes, surfboards, wetsuits …
