First StepsThank you for choosing to install TrueSight Capacity Optimization in your environment. The following walkthrough has been provided to guide you through a typical install.

Before following these instructions, please be sure to read through all prerequisite information for each install, found on the following links:

It is important to install these components in order as the install of each component relies on the one immediately preceding it.

An overview for the install of each part are listed on the next pages.

****NOTE: While installing, it is a good idea to take note of the usernames, passwords, and paths at each step for reference in case troubleshooting or access is needed in the future.

Installing RSSO (Remedy Single Sign On)(The steps involved in the installation are the same for both Windows and Linux

platforms.) You can install Remedy Single Sign-On (or Remedy SSO) as an

administrator or as a non-administrator user on Windows. If you are using a non-administrator user for installation, makesure that the non-administrator user is a part of the Administrators group. On Linux, you canperform the installation as a non-root user only.

This document is focused on a default install which is performed to explain the basic steps andhow the install wizard behaves while performing the product install with basic screenshots. Install steps and details

By installing RSSO on Linux, you should set the variable DISPLAY in order to see the install wizard GUI using X11 forwarding (or Linux client that supports it). Access the RSSO install wizard by executing the file setup.bin (under the /<install>/BCO/Disk1 directory). This screen shows the welcome message that prompts RSSO will be installed on the machine.

Read and accept the License agreement to continue the install

At this point select the destination directory or use the default install directory given by the installer:/opt/bmc/TrueSightRSSO

There are two options to install the RSSO internal database:

Packaged (default) or external. If packaged is selected the installer will setup and configure the internal database. If you choose an External database. Provide hostname and connection ports. Most installs will use the packaged internal database.

Create database user admins and passwords for both users.

Select the port which is used by Tomcat and how the RSSO console will be accessed via web browser. By default, RSSO is configured to run HTTPS protocol default port is 8048 which can be changed if required.

Enter the cookie domain. This should normally be the domain that your host is associated with.(i.e. bmc.com). Use Fully Qualified Domain Name to identify the server name where RSSO willbe installed.

Review the install settings selected and click “Install” when ready.

The product will start to install. It may take several minutes to complete the install and internal validations.

Once the install finishes successfully you will have the option to review the installation log, selectDone when finished.

Installing TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS)The Presentation server is a component of TrueSight Capacity Optimization where the out-of-the- box and custom Views are placed.

The available options for a Presentation Server install is performing a typical installation or a custom installation. A typical installation is recommended for installing the Presentation Serverwith the default settings. If you want to change the default settings used for the product installation, then you need to perform a custom installation.

Install steps and details

To install TSPS on Linux, you should set the variable DISPLAY in order to see the install wizard by using X11 forwarding. Access the TSPS install wizard by executing the file setup.bin (under the/<install>/Linux/Disk1 directory). This screen shows the welcome message that prompts the wizard when TSPS will be installed on the server.

Click on “Accept” once read EULA and agreed the license terms.

Select the installation directory. the default installation directory given by the product is/opt/bmc/BCO .

Select the installation type, in this example we will use Typical installation with default settings. Custom installation will be useful in case you would like to install TSPS in a High Availability (HA) environment.

Enter the FQDN were the TSPS console will be installed at, then click on Next.

Enter the Postgres userid/password for the internal database. The Installer creates a new database user using this username and password. (This is for the internal Postgres DB for the Presentation Server).

Enter the RSSO server details, the FQDN is the RSSO server, the default port for secure connection is 8048 (This port should match the same configured previously in RSSO installation).

Review the installation details click next when ready.

The install Wizard prompts an install bar that indicates how much the Wizard is taking to install the product. This may take some minutes to complete the installation of TSPS.

Upon installation is complete successfully, you have the option to review the installation log.The logs are placed by default on temporary directory

(Windows) Default directory: \Temp\truesightpserver_install_log.txt (Linux) Default directory: /tmp/truesightpserver_install_log.txt.

Then, click on button “Done” after checking the install was successful.

To verify if TSPS is up and running, navigate to any of these directories to check it out:

- (Windows) <install_Directory>\truesightpserver\bin

- (Linux) <install_Directory>/truesightpserver/bin

Run the following commands to restart the TrueSight Presentation Server:

tssh server stop tssh server start tssh server status

Installing TrueSight Capacity Optimization (TSCO)The Application Server installation program installs the Primary Scheduler, Data Hub, Web Server, Service Container, and ETL Engine Server. Your environment determines the type of installation and the way you choose to run the installation program.

This document mentions how to install the default server that contains all components in a single installation and creating the database schema.

Premises:

- The Oracle Client has been already installed on this machine per documented instructions (https://docs.bmc.com/docs/btco113/software-requirements-775471601.html#Softwarerequirements-SupportedOracleclients).

- The tnsnames.ora file is configured and points to the database server/schema used for TSCO (https://docs.bmc.com/docs/btco113/configuring-database-connection- using-perl-or-java-etls-775472826.html#ConfiguringdatabaseconnectionusingPerlorJavaETLs- ConfigurationeditingTNSNAMES.ORA)

- This install is performed by user “root” in Linux system- The installation package should not be on the same path where the

product will be installed. (/<install>/BCO/Disk1).

Install steps and details

At the product installation Welcome screen, click Next. Agree to the End User License Agreement(EULA), and click Next again.

Agree to the EULA and click Next

Select the installation directory. The default installation directory will be /opt/bmc/BCO.

BMC recommends executing TSCO installer as root user, another userid must be created asthe owner of TSCO, the default userid is cpit.

Select install first machine if you are installing the main Application Server

-Install an additional machine: select this option once the main application server has been deployed and you are installing either an additional AS or separate TSCO component.

Select the option that meets your requirements:

-Typical Setup: This option installs all TSCO components.

-Custom Setup: This option lets you choose which component will be installed on the machine.

Select the port where TSCO will be running, default is secure https (8443), but you can also define a non-secure http port, by default this port is 8000.

At this point it is necessary to enter both RSSO and TSPS server details as previously deployed. The FQDN and ports for each server. Type these here.

Select Local repository if this is a single Application Server (shared repository; select this option if you have multiple or distributed Application Servers sharing the repository across allservers) .

Enter the details of the database, in this case we are setting Oracle Database and this Wizard will install the Database Schema

From the creation of database users and tablespaces section, select whether the Installer should create the Database users and tablespaces if already created externally for advanced settings.

Enter the SYSDBA username and password for the database Schema and the Path wherethe datafile is saved by your database administrator. Specify a Fully qualified path for the datafile.

The wizard validates the connectivity to the database using the Oracle Client previously configured on this machine.

Upon successful validation, you will be presented with the datawarehouse aging configuration which can be configured prior to the install. For this example, we will use the default aging configuration.

Review the installation settings, then click finish.

TSCO starts the installation. This process can take up to 15 minutes.

The Installation Summary screen provides information about whether the installation was completed successfully. You can click View Log from this screen to see more details
