Three Options of Installation Methods:
Internet Link USB Drive Software Center
Download from the Internet link. Install immediately after download. Download requires 20 minutes to one hour. Installation requires another 15 minutes. Recommended method for older Houston ISD computers or for student or teacher personal computers.
Download from the Internet link. Save to a USB drive for installation at a later time. Download only required one time. Download requires 20 minutes to one hour depending on the speed of the Internet connection. Recommended method when installing on multiple computers.
Install directly from the Houston ISD Software Center. Requires approximately 15‐20‐ minutes. Only available for Houston ISD owned computers. Required method for PowerUp student dedicated devices.

Internet Link or USB Drive Method
1. Select “Search”
2. Select the dropdown
arrow next to “Name”. From the dropdown
list select “Binder ID”
14244353. Enter “1424435”
4. Click on the “Search” icon
Go to www.livebinders.com 1. Select “Search” from the right
side of the top menu bar. 2. Click on the dropdown arrow
next to “Name”. Select “Binder ID” from the dropdown list
3. Enter “1424435” in the Search textbox.
4. Click on the “Search” icon.

Click on “Verify”.
The Live Binder will require you to enter an “Access Key. The Binder is protected with an Access Key as it contains the installation information specific to Houston ISD students and teachers. 1. Enter the Access Key

click on either the Windows or MAC OS installation
link.

Downloads”. 2. Scroll down the page to click
on either the Windows or MAC OS installation link.
3. Note the additional resources provided in the Live Binder to support installation and use of the Kurzweil 3000 software.

Select “Save As” to save to a USB
drive for installation at a
later time.
Select “Run” to Install.
After clicking on the installation link… Select “Run” to install Click on the dropdown arrow next to “Save” and select “Save As” to save to a USB drive for installation at a later time.
To install from the USB drive, unzip the folder

You will be asked to agree to the terms of the user license agreement and then prompted several times to click on “Next” or “Continue.” Do not change any text information (e.g. computer name, user name, etc.).
Software Center Method
1. Click on the “Start”

the available options.

Software Center Method
1. Select Kurzweil 3000 from the list of applications available for installation. Do not attempt to install other applications at the same time as Kurzweil 3000.
2. Click on “Install
Selected”
Once in the Software Center, 1. Select Kurzweil 3000 from
the list of applications available for installation. Do not attempt to install other applications at the same time as Kurzweil 3000.
2. Click on “Install Selected” to install the software. This installation method does not require you to reboot or answer any questions.
Login Information: In all three case, when the installation is complete, you will see 1 icon and 2 folders labeled Kurzweil on your desktop. Double click the Kurzweil icon to get started. You will need your campus USERNAME and PASSWORD. USERNAME is your campus name with es (elementary school),ms (middle school), hs (high school), ac (academy), k‐8 (PreK‐K‐8th Grade)
PASSWORD is password

Troubleshooting: 1. If this is the first time for you to connect to the Software Center from this computer it
may take up to an hour for the Software Center to fully load. 2. If this is not the first time for you to connect to the Software Center from this
computer and you do not see the Software Center or do not see Kurzweil 3000 in your service center or get a failed message, contact the campus instructional technology (CIT) person or call the HISD Help Desk for assistance. Phone: 713‐892‐7378 Email: [email protected]
