Installing a Star TSP100 USB on Windows OS

Introduction This application note shows how to install a Star TSP100 series USB Printer using the futurePRNT Driver/Configuration Utility package. While these instruction were written using the TSP100ECO, this document suffices for the below models. I. futurePRNT Installation

1. Ensure the printer is not connected to the computer at this point in time.

2. Insert the CD into the CDROM driver or click “AutoRun.exe” in the main directory to execute the installer. If the CD was misplaced, the driver can be downloaded for free from the Star Micronics Global Support Site.

NOTE: When downloading the driver, please make sure to extract the file before click on “Autorun.exe”

3. Click Installation.

4. Click “I Accept”.

5. Click Next.

6. Enter User Name and Organization and click Next.

7. Select Typical and then click Next.

8. Click Install.

9. The installer completes installation of futurePRNT.

10. Click Finish.

11. Click Exit.

12. Congratulations, the futurePRNT driver has successful installed, please proceeded to Step II. USB Printer Installation.

II. USB Printer Installation 1. Connect the TSP100 printer into the computer using the USB cable. The futurePRNT should have already

been installed at this time.

2. Once connected, a window will appear saying, “Installing device…”.

3. The printer will try to installing by itself.

4. The printer will be listed in Devices and Printers, proceeded to Step III. Confirming Successful Installation. NOTE: If the Printer is listed under the Unspecified section, proceed to Step 5.

5. On the “Devices and Printers” screen, right-click anywhere on blank white area and a menu will appear. Click on Device Manager.

6. The Device Manager screen will appear.

7. Under Other device the printer will be listed there. Right-click on the printer name and select Update Driver Software.

8. A new window will appear, so please click on either: A. Search automatically for updated driver software - continue to Step 12. B. Browser my computer for driver software- continue to Step 9.

10. Browse to the TSP100CD or the downloaded file, select Windows folder, then select PrinterDriver and click OK.

12. It will begin installing the driver software.

13. It will confirm that, “Windows has successfully updated your driver software” then click Close.

14. The printer will be listed in Devices and Printers, proceeded to Step III. Confirming Successful Installation.

III. Confirming Successful Installation 1. Open Devices and Printer, then right-click on the “TSP100 Cutter (TSP143)” and select Printer Properties.

2. Click Print Test Page in the lower right-hand corner.

3. The printer will print out a Windows Test Page, confirming successful installation.

4. Click OK button to close the Star TSP100 Cutter properties windows.

5. Congratulations, you have successfully installed your Star TSP100 Series USB printer on Windows.
