INSTALLATION OF SAP GUI for JAVA ON LINUX OS

Prerequisites:

1) Java Run time Environment

2) SAP GUI for JAVA installer

3) Configuration files for BSNL ERP servers

I. Checks for Java Run time Environment(JRE):

Open terminal window. Switch user to root and check the version of java using command

#java –version

See that java is loaded. If older version is present, download latest version of jre for linux from

www.java.com and install it.

Again check the existing version of java and its path. # java –version

# whereis java

# which java

Consult local IT Team for Java installation and configuration on Linux OS.

II. Installation of SAP GUI for JAVA: 1) Download the file PlatinGUI730Linux_4.JAR (SAPGUI for java) from

10.197.216.213/project_imp.html. 2) Execute the following command in terminal window with sufficient privilege.

# $ java -jar Platingui730linux_4.JAR

Note: If above command does not execute, you may type complete file path of java and

Platingui730linux_4.JAR

(For Example # $ /usr/lib/jvm/jre/bin/java -jar /Platingui730linux_4.JAR )

Click Next

Installation of SAP GUI for JAVA has been completed successfully.

3) You will find a file for “guilogon” in the location /opt/SAPClients/SAP GUI 7.30 rev 4/bin

Right click on this file and select Make link and Move the link to Desktop.

Note: Please search the file “guilogon” if the path given above is not valid for your Linux flavor. 4) Click on the link to open the following window.

The connection link is empty. Need configuration for BSNL ERP Server.

III. Configuration of SAP GUI for JAVA:

Download configuration files from 10.197.216.213/project_imp.html and unzip

There are three files namely hosts, services and connections.htm

1) The file “hosts” contains entries for name resolution. Append the contents of downloaded hosts

file in the file /etc/hosts (please make a backup copy of /etc/hosts file ~ cp /etc/hosts /etc/hosts-

backup)

Change access permission of /etc/hosts file for others as Read only

2) Similarly append the contents of the downloaded “services” files to /etc/services file.

(Before appending the content backup the old file from /etc/services file ~ cp /etc/services /etc/services-

backup)

3) Copy downloaded “connections.htm” to /opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.30rev4/doc/webdynpro/ and

replace old file.

Click “guilogon” Link on desktop (created in step-II above) to open connections window

Go to File- Preferences. Following screen will appear.

Enter the path of “connections.htm” as

/opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.30rev4/doc/webdynpro/connections.htm in Configuration File text box

Enter the path of

connections.htm here and

Click Apply and Save

Note: If connections.htm is stored on other location, please enter that location. You may search

this file after the installation of SAP GUI to find the location and then replace it with downloaded

connections.htm

Now the connection for BSNL ERP Servers appear in the Connections List
