INSTALLATION MANUALMagnuson Supercharger Kit GM 6.2 Liter EngineCadillac CTS-V 2017+ LT4

Please take a few moments to review this manual thoroughly before you begin work: Make a quick parts check to be certain your kit is complete (see Bill of Material (BOM) parts list inside the accessory box). If you discover shipping damage or shortage, please call our offi ce immediately. Take a look at exactly what you are going to need in terms of tools, time, and experience. Review our limited warranty with care. When unpacking the supercharger kit DO NOT lift the supercharger assembly by the black plastic bypass actuator. This is pre-set from the factory and can be altered if used as a lifting point!

Caution: Relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components in order to reduce the risk of fi re and personal injury. After relieving the system pressure, a small amount of fuel may be released when servicing the fuel lines or connections. In order to reduce the risk of personal injury, cover the regulator and fuel line fi ttings with a shop towel before disconnecting. This will catch any fuel that may leak out. Place the towel in an approved container when the job is complete.

Use only premium gasoline fuel, 91 octane or better.Use only premium gasoline fuel, 91 octane or better.

Magnuson Superchargers recommend that you run a minimum of one (1) tank of premium fuel through your vehicle prior to installation of the system to prevent any possible damage that may occur due to running the supercharged engine on lower octane fuel.

Magnuson Superchargers systems are designed for engines and vehicles in “GOOD” mechanical condition. Magnuson Superchargers recommend that a basic engine system “Health Check” be performed prior to the installation of this supercharger system. Be sure to check for any pending or actual OBDII codes and fi x/repair any of the stock systems/components causing these codes. If there are codes prior to the installation they will be there after the installation.

Magnuson Superchargers also recommend the following services to be performed on your vehicle before starting and running the vehicle post supercharger system installation:• Fuel Filter change• Engine oil and fi lter change using brand name oil (organic or synthetic) and fi lter

Note: It is VERY IMPORTANT to use the factory specifi ed oil viscosity. The original equipmentmanufacturer has selected this grade of oil to work with your other engine systems such as hydraulic chain tensioners and variable cam controls. Deviation from this specifi cation may cause these systems to fail or not function properly. Please refer to your owner’s manual for the recommended oil viscosity for your engine and application.

• On newer vehicles not requiring new spark plugs it is important to verify the spark plug air gap.

On older vehicles Magnuson Superchargers recommend these additional services to be performed:

• New spark plugs with the air gap set at the factory specifi cations OR new specifi cations if required bythe installation manual.• Coolant system pressure test and fl ush. NOTE: YOU MUST USE GM SPECIFIED COOLANTNOTE: YOU MUST USE GM SPECIFIED COOLANTMIXTURE.MIXTURE.

Non “Magnuson Approved” calibrations or “tuning” will Void ALL warranties and CARB certifi cation.

6. Place a rag, or other appropriate insulatorover the negative terminal to preventaccidental connection once the negativebattery cable has been disconnected.

7. Place a rag over the rear hatch latch toprevent locking.

5. Remove the negative cable from the batterywith a 10mm wrench.

8. Remove the two nuts and two bolts holdingthe strut tower brace in place. Set the strutbrace aside for later installation. In the nextfew steps we will also be removing the plastictrim around the engine bay that you can seein this photo.

Section 2: Removal of Factory Supercharger and Accessories

9. Lift the plastic cover shown with the arrow. This is located near the fender on both sides of the car.

10. Under the cover that you lifted in the last photo you will fi nd a plastic clip that you will have to release in order to remove this panel. Repeat this process for the opposite side of the vehicle.

11. Use a screwdriver or small prybar to remove the plastic rivets securing the panels on both sides of the vehicle. Set the panels aside for installation later.

12. Pull up on the plastic engine cover located on top of the supercharger to remove it from the vehicle. In the next step you will see how it is fastened to the supercharger.

13. Here is the underside of the engine cover that was removed from the last step. You can see the 5 locations where it connects to the supercharger. This cover will not be reused.

14. Remove the two retainers for the fuel line at the back of the supercharger using a clip prybar at two locations.

15. Use a clip prybar to remove the plastic rivet at the airbox lid location shown with the arrow.

16. Here is the rivet location from the last step.

17. Unlock and unplug the MAF sensor at the arrow location shown. The next step will show the locking tab that must be released before you can unplug this connection.

18. Here you can see the locking tab of the MAF sensor that must be pulled back before you unplug the connection.

19. Disconnect the PCV hose shown at the arrow location by pressing inwards on the gray buttons and pulling it out.

20. Loosen the two hose clamps for the intake duct using an 8mm nut driver or standard screwdriver, and remove the intake duct.

22. Once you have removed the air box from the vehicle make sure that the rubber grommets are located in the three locations shown with the arrows. If they are not all present (like the one at the red arrow location) you will have to remove them from the airbox and place them in the proper areas.

21. Pull straight up on the air box to remove it from the vehicle.

23. Here is the rubber grommet that was stuck to the airbox. Remove it from the airbox and place it back in the fender well.

25. Disconnect the brake booster hose from the throttle body at the arrow location by fi rst pressing the gray buttons and then pulling out.

27. Disconnect the PCV hose at the arrow location.

26. Disconnect the PCV hose at the arrow location. This hose will not be reused.

28. Disconnect the opposite side of the hose from the last step at the valve cover. You will need to use a screwdriver or small pry bar to get down inside the cover to release the lock from the connector at the arrow location. This hose will be reused.

29. Pull back on the lock and disconnect the electrical connection from the EVAP solenoid.

30. Pull back on the red locking tab shown at the arrow and disconnect the throttle control electrical connection.

31. Release the lock with the blue tab for the MAP sensor at the arrow location using a screwdriver.

32. Unplug the connection that was unlocked in the last step.

33. Press the gray buttons for the EVAP solenoid hose and disconnect it.

34. Use a 10 mm socket wrench to remove the bolt securing the EVAP solenoid. Remove the EVAP solenoid and set it aside for installation in another location.

35. Pull on the gray locking tab and unplug the electrical connection shown at the arrow location. This is located below the front MAP sensor.

36. Press the gray release button and disconnect the EVAP hose shown here at the back of the fi rewall.

37. Pry up on the two cable retainers shown at the yellow arrow locations to remove them from the supercharger.

38. Unplug the bypass solenoid electrical connector.

39. Pry the cable retainers free at the four locations shown with arrows on the supercharger.

40. Pull straight up on the rear plastic cover to remove it. This will not be reused.

41. Pry the cable retainer shown off the rear of the supercharger.

42. Push the red locking tab with a small screwdriver, and unplug the connection at the rear MAP sensor.

43. Remove the supercharger belt by rotating the tensioner shown with the arrow in a counter-clockwise direction using a short 15mm socket wrench. This belt will not be reused.

44. Here you can see the 15mm socket wrench attached to the tensioner. Rotate it counterclockwise to release the belt tension and pull the belt off the pulleys. The belt will not be reused.

48. Here you can see a pry bar being used to remove the cable tie connection shown in the last step.

45. Pull up on the red locking tabs for the injector connections (8 each) and unplug them. 47. Use a pry bar to remove the cable tie connection shown with the arrow.

46. The arrows show the 8 injector locations. Some of the electrical connections have already been unplugged.

49. Place a cup under the intercooler connections as shown to collect the coolant that will be drained in the next few steps.

50. Use a pick or other appropriate tool to remove the two clips that secure the connections for the intercooler hoses.

51. Here is one of the two clips that was removed in the last step. These will not be used again.

52. Once you have removed the clips shown in the last step you can unplug the connection and drain the coolant into the cup. If this coolant is in good shape and kept clean it can be used later to refi ll the intercooler system.

53. Use some small bags and rubber bands or plugs to prevent coolant from spilling out of the hoses you just disconnected.

54. In order to drain more coolant from the supercharger you can install some hoses at the connections you just unplugged. Then place one hose in the drain cup while you pressurize the other hose. This should clear the majority of coolant out of the supercharger.

55. Seal the two connections on the supercharger side as well with plastic bags and rubber bands or plugs. Remove the front MAP sensor shown at the arrow location. This sensor will be installed in a new location in a later step using this OEM fastener.

56. Vacuum across the supercharger lid. Remove all debris from the counterbores shown with arrows.

57. Remove all 20 bolts holding the lid in place. Then remove the lid.

58. Remove the 10 bolts shown with arrows holding the supercharger housing in place. These bolts will not be reused.

59. Two of the bolts from the last step are hidden below the cowl. This is on the left rear of the supercharger.

60. Here is the other hidden bolt on the right rear of the supercharger at the yellow arrow location. Use a cable tie to temporarily hold the fuel line out of the way at the green arrow location.

61. At this point you will need some help to remove the supercharger from the engine. Have at least one other person on the opposite side of the engine bay while you lift it up. Carefully clean up the surface around the intake ports. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface around the ports. 62. Clean and inspect the PCV fi tting shown with the arrow to ensure it isn’t damaged.

63. Apply blue tape over the ports to prevent anything from entering the engine. Remove the insulation from the manifold valley shown with an arrow. This insulation will not be reused.

64. Place rags around the fuel line shown at the left side of the engine. Remove the metal locking clip from the fuel line.

65. Eye protection is necessaryEye protection is necessary. . Use the provided plastic release tool to slide on the underside of the hose connection (shown with an arrow) and press up on it while you push down on the hose. This will release the connection. Be careful while releasing the connection because fuel will be released. Properly dispose of any fuel soaked rags after fuel line is removed.

66. Place a cap on the fuel inlet line shown with a red arrow, and a plug on the hose (shown with a yellow arrow) once the fuel line has been disconnected.

67. Remove the steel security clip from the fuel line shown with the yellow arrow. Also remove the plastic tether shown with the red arrow.

68. Here is a close-up of the security clip and tether. Remove and discard the plastic tether Remove and discard the plastic tether from the security clip.from the security clip. The metal security clip will be reused on the provided fuel line.

69. Once again use the provided fuel line removal tool to disconnect the fuel line on the opposite side of the OEM fuel line.

70. Gather the provided fuel line shown. This will replace the fuel line just removed.

71. Install the provided fuel line in the same place as the OEM fuel line. Reinstall the steel security clip without the plastic tetherwithout the plastic tether. Make sure to rotate the security clip to the side as shown to allow more clearance for the supercharger.

72. Install the bolt removed earlier into the end of the provided fuel line bracket. Leave this bolt Leave this bolt loose as it will be torqued later. loose as it will be torqued later.

73. Vacuum out the manifold valley to remove any debris.

74. Remove the MAP sensor from the back of the OEM supercharger.

75. Install the OEM MAP sensor from the last step on the left rear of the Magnuson supercharger.

76. Remove the 4 bolts shown with arrows using a 10 mm wrench, and remove the throttle body from the OEM supercharger.

77. Remove the two hoses from the bypass solenoid shown with the yellow arrows. Also remove the bypass solenoid from the OEM supercharger by removing the bolt at the red arrow location. The bypass solenoid will be installed in a new location later. The new supercharger uses a vacuum actuated bypass valve, but this bypass solenoid must maintain electrical connection for the system to work properly.

78. Apply some supplied Lubriplate grease to the PCV seal at the bottom of the Magnuson supercharger.

79. Supercharger assembly shown. Remove lid bolts (17 each) from the top with an 8 mm socket. Note the bolt locations for replacement in later steps.

80. Remove lid carefully. Make sure not to damage the O-ring seal on top of the housing.

82. Remove the spigot retaining bolt from the supercharger with a 4 mm Allen wrench as shown. Then carefully remove the retaining bracket and spigots. Repeat on opposite side, taking note of spigot length and location. Remove the hose assemblies and set aside for later reinstallation.

83. Remove the charge air cooler fasteners (2 each) with a 3 mm Allen wrench. Repeat on opposite side.

84. Carefully pull out the charge air coolers by hand. Pull evenly around the perimeter to disengage the seal.

85. Apply blue Loctite 242 to longer thread section of the stud provided.

86. Install prepped stud into threaded hole at the left side rear head inlet port location. Adjust the thread height to 25-30 mm.

87. Remove the blue tape from the intake ports.

First fi nger tighten all bolts. Gradually work your way up to the torque specifi cation listed while you follow the numerical order listed in the diagram. 104. Locate the four bolts that held the charge air coolers in place. Apply the provided Loctite 242 on the ends of each bolt.

105. Install the four bolts from the last step to secure the charge air coolers in the locations where they were originally. Use the ends of the coolant crossover hose assemblies that were removed earlier (shown in the next step) to help align the inlets of the coolers while you are tightening the charge air coolers in place.

Section 4: Hose Line and Lid Installation106. Gather the following coolant crossover hose

assemblies. The longer of these goes to the outside inlet holes on the supercharger.

107. Install the coolant crossovers in their original locations as shown. The longer hose connects the two outer ports.

108. Slide the lower hose behind the waterpump housing shown with the arrow. If you should notice any sharp edges at this location use the provided 7” long mesh to cover this lower hose.

110. Gather the following retainers for the coolant crossovers. Apply the provided Loctite 242 to the ends of the bolts as shown.

111. Install one of the retainers, and bolts from the last step in the location shown with the arrow. Repeat this procedure on the right side. Make sure the bolts are secure and tight.

112. Gather the following supplied front MAP sensor bracket assembly and 5/16”x20” long hose. Cut the hose to 12.5” and install it on the brass barb. This will allow you to reroute the front MAP sensor into a new location. Install the front MAP sensor that was removed from the OEM supercharger earlier to the adaptor using the OEM bolt in the location shown with an arrow.

109. If needed here is where the provided 7” long mesh should be installed on the longer hose from the last step.

133. Gather the following provided hose, shrink tube, and 90° fi ttings. You will have to cut this hose to a 34” length and remove 4” from the length of the mesh covering. After this you will slide the heat shrink tubing half way over each end of the mesh and the other half over the hose to protect the mesh from fraying. Use a heat gun to shrink the tubing over the ends of the mesh. Press the barbed fi ttings of each 90° fi tting into the ends of the hose until they bottom out.

136. The yellow arrow shows the EVAP line connection at the back of the supercharger from the last step. Remove the fuel line safety clip from the right side rear of the supercharger at the green arrow location.

170. Gather the OEM bypass solenoid that was removed earlier and connect it to the original electrical connection near the water pump (shown with a yellow arrow). Install the two provided rubber caps shown with the red arrows. Secure the bypass solenoid with a provided cable tie shown with a green arrow using the OEM bracket from the OEM supercharger. This solenoid will be placed between the two PCV hose connections on the right front of the engine.

171. Reconnect the OEM hose back to the left valve cover and the yellow arrow location shown. Use the provided Adel clamp and a provided M6x12mm bolt to hold it secure at the red arrow location above the inlet.

172. Reinstall the plastic trim around the engine compartment.

173. Connect the negative terminal of the battery and tighten the nut with a 10 mm wrench.

175. Have an assistant start the engine and let it idle for a few seconds to get the intercooler pump to start. Check for belt alignment at this time. Before the reservoir drains completely have your assistant turn the engine off. Do not let the reservoir run dry. Fill the reservoir some more and have your assistant cycle the engine again until you see the coolant level remain constant. While the pump is running check for circulation in the reservoir, and coolant leaks. Fill the reservoir to the base of the neck of the housing once all the air has been removed. Replace the reservoir cap.

176. The supercharger is shown fully installed. Start the engine and check for coolant, and fuel leaks. Test drive vehicle for the fi rst few miles under normal driving conditions. Do not Do not attempt any wide open throttle runsattempt any wide open throttle runs. . Check for any unusual sounds, vibrations, or engine misfi res. The supercharger does have a slight whining noise under boost conditions, which is normal. After the initial test let the engine cool down, and recheck coolant levels.

174. Place rags around the intercooler reservoir. Use the GM approved engine coolant mixture to fi ll your intercooler reservoir to capacity. You can temporarily leave the cap off the reservoir to monitor coolant level. Clear tools and other items from engine area.

177. After the initial test drive gradually work the vehicle to wide open throttle runs. Listen for any engine detonation (pinging). If engine detonation is detected let up on the throttle immediately. Most detonation is caused by low octane gasoline still in the tank.
