• Make sure that incoming voltage is the same as unit rating. An electric rating plate specifyingvoltage, frequency, wattage, amperage, and phase is attached to the product.

• To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, installation work and electrical wiringmust be done by qualified people in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, includingfire-rated construction.

• The installer should leave these instructions with the consumer who should retain them for localinspector’s use and for future reference.

Area RequirementsVerify the following:• Unit can fit into residence and can be

moved around corners and throughdoorways.

• Floors can support unit’s weight plus foodweight (approximately 1200 pounds [540 kg] per unit).

• Floors underneath appliance are level withsurrounding finished floor.

• Rear wall is solid and is able to supporttwo horizontally mounted 2 X 4s (included)bolted to two wall studs. The 2 X 4 boardbolt heads must be flush with 2 X 4 toprevent obstruction.

• Remove anything attached to rear or sidewalls that can obstruct unit installation.

• Cutout dimensions are accurate.

• Electrical outlet is in correct location.

• Water line is in correct location.

• Do not install a refrigeration unit near aheat source, nor in a location where thesurrounding temperature will fall below 60º F (16º C).

Electrical RequirementsIt is the customer’s responsibility to:• contact a qualified electrical installer.• assure that the electrical installation is

adequate and in conformance with theNational Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-latest edition or Canadian Electrical CodeC22.1-1998 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (orlatest edition), and all local codes andordinances. A 115 volt, 60-Hz, 15 amp, fused, electrical supply is required.

It is required that a separate circuit servingonly this appliance be provided. Thisappliance is equipped with a power supplycord having a 3-prong grounding plug. Tominimize possible shock hazard, the cordmust be plugged into a mating 3-prong,grounding-type wall receptacle. Do not use an extension cord.

If codes permit a separate grounding wire tobe used, it is recommended that a qualifiedelectrician determine that the groundingpath is adequate.

DO NOT ground to a gas pipe. Check with aqualified electrician if you are not sure theappliance is properly grounded. DO NOThave a fuse in the neutral or groundingcircuit.

Anti-Tip RequirementsThe anti-tip boards should be fastened intoposition prior to moving the unit into theopening.

Note: Additional mounting boards may berequired if the unit does not touch the backwall of the enclosure. To prevent unit fromtipping forward, it must be secured in placewith a solid soffit or wood block.

Water Supply Requirements(All Freezer)

Use only 1/4” (6 mm) copper tubing forwater line. Do Not install copper tubing inarea where temperatures drop below 35° F (1.7° C). Before attaching coppertubing to the unit, flush at least 2 quarts (1.9L) of water through the copper tubing andinto a bucket to remove any particles in thewater line.

• Viking Range, LLC is not responsible forproperty damage due to improperinstallation or water connection.

• Connect 1/4” (6 mm) flexible coppertubing to household plumbing incompliance with local codes andordinances.

• Length of copper tubing must reach fromwater supply connection to the unitconnection with an additional length tofacilitate moving the unit out of enclosurefor cleaning or service. Tubing should besoft instead of rigid and ends should befree of burrs.

• Copper tubing route must be above 35° F(1.7° C) to prevent water line from freezing.

• Do not use plastic water lines from thehousehold plumbing to the water inletvalve connection on the unit.

• Do not use the self-piercing feature of asaddle valve. The hole made by thepiercing lance is too small for the waterflow rate required by the ice maker.

• If saddle valve is not used, place aseparate shut-off valve in an easilyaccessible location between water supplyand the unit. Do not locate shut-off valvebehind the unit.

• The installation of Viking units with areverse osmosis system is acceptable as long as the water pressure remainswithin the allowable PSI as stated below. Itis important to note that with many reverseosmosis systems, the pressure starts offhigh, but then it decreases as the waterlevel of the reverse osmosis storage areadrops. This must be considered whenchecking the water pressure coming intothe unit.

• Connect a vertical or horizontal 1/2” (1.2 cm) to 1-1/4” (3.2 cm) COLD waterline near water area.

• Run water line through the floor, back, orside wall. Tubing should lay flat on floorunderneath the unit. Clamp tubing to wallor floor.

• Water pressure must be greater than 20 psiand less than 120 psi on non-dispensersand greater than 35 psi and less than 120psi on dispensers.

W A R N I N GTo avoid serious illness or death, do not use unitwhere water is microbiologically unsafe or ofunknown quality without adequate disinfectionbefore or after the system. Systems certified for cystreduction may be used on disinfected water thatmay contain filterable cysts. The contaminants orother substances removed or reduced by this watertreatment system are not necessarily in you water.

• Most of the unit’s weight is at the top.Extra care is needed when moving the unitto prevent tipping.

• Do Not remove protective film until unit isin operating position.

• All four leveling legs must contact the floorto support and stabilize the full weight.

• Do not drop unit.

• Remove exterior shipping materials priorto moving unit into home.

• Use two or more people to move andinstall unit. Failure to follow this instructioncan result in back or other injury.

• To avoid personal injury, wear gloves whenperforming any installation procedure andwear eye protection when cutting metalstraps.
