Introduction

TheWahooGymConnectRetrofitisaplugandplayBluetoothandANT+connectivitysolution

forCSAFEenabledfitnessequipment.Whenconnectedwithacompatibleapp,theGymConnect

retrofitsendsrealtimedatafromthefitnessequipmentdevicetotheapp,allowinguserstotrack

andanalyzetheirworkout.GymConnectRetrofitiscompatiblewithWahoo’sRunFitapplicationand

othermobileapplicationsthatsupportWahoo’slatestAPIforiOSandAndroid.

Theconnectionprocessisverysimple,theuseropensthecompatibleapp,theapprecognizesthe

GymConnectRetrofitbroadcastsandthesmartphone’simagescannerisopenedautomatically,the

usersimplyscanstheQRcodelabelaffixedtothefitnessequipmentdevicetocompletethe

connectionprocess.

Installation 1. LocatetheCSAFEportonthefitness

equipment.Typicallocationsincludetheback

oftheconsoleornearthepowercord.Refer

totheequipmentusermanualor

manufacturersupportresourcesforguidance

onCSAFEportlocationifyouarenotableto

readilylocateit.

2. Onfitnessequipmentuseacleaningsolutionsuchasrubbing

alcoholtocleantheareawhereyouwouldliketoattachthe

GymConnectretrofitmodule.Aftercleaningwipetheareadry.

Then,cleanthebottomofretrofitmoduleandwipedryandaffix

theyellowsideofthedouble-sidedtapetothebottomofthe

GymConnectretrofitmodule.

3. Removetheredsideoffthedouble

sidedtapeandattachthe

GymConnectretrofitmoduletothe

fitnessequipmentdevice.After

securelyaffixedtothemachine,

connecttheEthernetcablebetween

theretrofitmoduleandtheCSAFEport.

4. Wipethesideofthebaselabelcontaininginstructionsand

attachoneoftheincludedQRcodelabelstoabaselabelin

theareanoted.Cleantheareawherethebaselabelwillbe

affixedtothefitnessconsoleandwipedrythenattachthe

baselabeltodesiredlocationonfitnessconsole.

TheGymConnectRetroUtilprogrammingappisnotcurrentlyreleasedontheAppleAppstore.Thus,

youwilllikelyneedtotrusttheappforuseonyouriOSdevice.Totrusttheapp,gotothesettings,

selectgeneralsettings,scrolldowntoProfilesandDeviceManagement,selectWahooFitnessLLC

andtrusttheInstallerapp.

2. EnsurethegreenLEDofGymConnectretrofitmoduleis

illuminatedindicatingitispoweredandtheorangeLEDis

flashingindicatingitisadvertising.Ifyouwillbeinstalling

morethanoneGymConnectretrofitmoduleitis

recommendedtopluginandprogramoncedeviceata

timeallowingforeasierprogramming.

3. Onceyouhaveconfirmedtheunitispoweredand

advertising,opentheGymConnectRetroUtilapp.The

appwillopentomainscreen.Beforebeginningmake

suretheslidernexttoFirmwareupdatermodeisset.

4. TobegintheprogrammingprocessselectGEM

RetroInstaller.Theappwillswitchtothemain

programmingscreen.Next,selectBegin..

5. OnthenextscreenalistofRetrofitdevicesthatare

advertisingwillappear.Selectyourdeviceandthe

RetroUtilappwillmakeaconnectiontotheGymConnect

Retrofit.AftertheappmakestheBluetoothconnection

totheGymConnectretrofit,theappwillcheckthe

firmwareandupdatethefirmwareintheGymConnect

Retrofitautomaticallyifitisoutofdate.Oncethe

firmwareupdateprocessiscompleted,youwillnowbe

abletoconfiguretheretrofitforyourequipment.

6. ThefirststepinconfiguringyourGymConnectretrofitis

tosettheQRCodeadvertisingID.SelectSETAdvertising

ID(QRCode).Thecamerawillappear.Usingthecamera,

scanthepictureoftheQRCodeincludedwithyour

GymConnectRetrofit.Theappwillautomaticallyscanthe

QRCodeandcapturetheGymConnectRetrofit’s

BluetoothAddresscontainedintheQRCode.

7. Nowyouwillconfigurethemachinetypebyselectingthe

SetForcedFEType.Selectthemachineappropriatefor

yourfitnessequipmentfromthemenu.

8. AfteryouhaveconfiguredtheForcedFEType,theset-up

isfinished.SelectdoneandtheRetroUtilappwillwrite

thesettingsintheGymConnectretrofit’smemory.The

retrofitisnowreadytouse.Followtheremainingsteps

belowtocompletetheinstallationprocess. Verification

1. Aftercompletingtheinstallationandprogrammingstepsin

ensuretheGymConnectRetrofitandconfirmthatthegreen

LEDonretrofitmoduleisonindicatingtheunitispowered

andtheorangeLEDisblinkingindicatingtheunitis

advertising.

apphassuccessfullyconnectedtotheretrofit

module.Youcannowbegintheworkouton

thefitnessequipmentdeviceandRunFitwill

automaticallyrecordtheworkout.
