Install Instructions for SPSS v23

If you have questions or need assistance installing software, please contact the AskIT Helpdesk via phone or email: (205) 996-5555 or AskIT@uab.edu After downloading “SPSS” from the IT Software Download website (www.uab.edu/it/software), double-check the version that you downloaded to ensure that it matches your current operating system.

ACCEPT the Licensing and Usage Terms of the Agreement at the bottom of the page to proceed to License Code:

STEP 3 Copy your activation code for your install and CLICK HERE at the bottom of the page

to download your selection:

STEP 4 You can SAVE it to your Desktop to RUN the .exe later; or OPEN to RUN the your

install immediately as follows:

**If you run into errors by OPEN and running immediately, you will need to start over and complete steps 5 & 6**

STEP 5 Select the IBM SPSS Installer and Extract All Files

STEP 6 Once extracted a NEW folder will pop up with the following contents, RIGHT click on SETUP

STEP 7 Right click and Run as administrator:

STEP 8 Preparing to Install…..

STEP 9 Licensing Information – Select NEXT

STEP 10 **Select Authorized user for desktop/individual installs – NEXT **

**ONLY Select Concurrent for Server use, NOT Desktop or Laptop**

**A separate license code must be requested from AskIT for these installs**

**CONCURRENT – you only will see this screen and complete for concurrent/server installs ONLY **

STEP 11 Accept license agreement terms – NEXT

STEP 12 Leave this information as is, no updates necessary - NEXT

STEP 13 SPSS Language information can remain as is – NEXT

STEP 14 Assistive Technology information can remain as is– NEXT

STEP 15 Essentials for Python can remain as is (yes) – NEXT

STEP 16

Accept History of Software license agreement – NEXT

STEP 17 Accept Software License Agreement – NEXT

STEP 18

Install SPSS software - NEXT

STEP 19 Begin Installation – Select Install

STEP 20 Wait for install to complete

STEP 21 Click OK to start license authorization process

STEP 22 License my product now – NEXT

STEP 23 Copy & Paste, or enter the SPSS license code – the select NEXT

STEP 24 Authorization Succeeded – Select NEXT

STEP 25 Licensing Completed – Select Finish

STEP 26 This will appear once COMPLETED

NOTE: You CANNOT access SPSS until you restart your computer.
