ENVIRONMENT 7.1 EHP1 PREVIEW VERSION – BETA 3.0This document describes in detail how to install and configure the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment 7.1 EHP1 PreviewVersion that is available on SDN download area (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/downloads). This includes the installation of theJava server as well as the installation of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. Before starting with the installation and configurationsteps, make sure that you have downloaded the CE server installation package and the NetWeaver Developer Studio installationpackage.This is what you should find in the respective folders.Server:

Finally double-check whether your system fulfils the following requirements:

Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or Windows 2003 Server (Service Pack 1), english onlyThis version runs on Windows XP (SP2) with password accounts and Windows Server 2003 (32bit), english onlyNTFS file systemMicrosoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, or Firefox 1.0 or higherMin. 1 GB, recommended 2 GB RAM7 GB free hard disc space1.5 GHz PC or higherMonitor 1024x768 pixels or more, 256 colorsInternet access (for CE online documentation)

Besides these requirements, make sure that you have removed a previously installed version of the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studioand the server software including the database from your system. Otherwise the screens and dialogs will differ from the onesdescribed in this guide.For running the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio you need to install the latest Java Development Kit JDK 5.0. Where to find it isexplained in the Installing the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS) chapter of this guideline. Do not use JDK 6.0.If no DHCP server is available on your network (which dynamically determines the IP address) or your computer is not connected toany network, you need to install the virtual interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter (described in detail on the next page).

Installing and configuring the Loopback adapter

1. Note: Before you installEHP1 for SAP NW CE 7.1 itis recommended to install theMicrosoft Loopback adapter.This is necessary if no DHCPserver is available on yournetwork (which dynamicallydetermines the IP address) oryour computer is notconnected to any network.

Go to Windows StartControl Panel AddHardware

3. Select the radio button Yes, Ihave already connected thehardware and click on theNext Button.

4. Select Add a new hardwaredevice from the installedhardware list and click on theNext button.

5. Select the Install thehardware that I manuallyselect from a list (Advanced)radio button and click on theNext Button.

6. Select Network adaptersfrom the Common hardwaretypes list and click on theNext Button.

7. Select Microsoft from theManufacturer window.Select Microsoft LoopbackAdapter from the NetworkAdapter list and click on theNext Button.

8. To install the new hardware,click on the Next and Finishbutton.

9. After the successfulinstallation, we have toconfigure the adapter. First wewill provide thecorresponding IP address.Right mouse click on theWindow’s Start button andselect Explore.

10. Right mouse click on the MyNetwork Places node andselect Properties.

11. Right mouse click on theentry that was created for theMicrosoft LoopbackAdapter (Local AreaConnection 2 in thescreenshot) and selectProperties.

12. Select the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) entry and click onthe Properties button.

13. Enter the IP Address andsubnet mask shown in thescreenshot and click on theOK button. With that theloopback adapter has beenconfigured successfully.

14. Now you have to configurethe Host file. Right mouseclick on the Window’s Startbutton and select Explore.Navigate to the folderC:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and open the file hostswith Notepad.

15. Enter the correspondingcomputer name and loopbackaddress. The loopback adapterinstallation and configurationhas been completedsuccessfully.

Installing the Composition Environment package

1. Open the folder where the CEserver installation package islocated and extract the RARfile to your local drive.

2. Double click the start.htmfile.

6. In the window that opensdouble-click on thesapinst.exe file to actuallystart the installer.

7. On the first screen (ChooseOption) expand the SAPNetWeaver CE DeveloperEdition node and selectCustom Server Installation.Click on Next

8. On the second screen (DefineParameters) leave theTypical radio button and clickon Next

9. The License Agreementscreen shows up. Readthrough the agreement, scrolldown until the end of theagreement, check the Agreeradio button and confirm it byclicking on Next

10. Confirm the System ID CE1by clicking on Next. Don’tchange it.

On the next screen you have topoint to the Java CryptographyExtension Unlimited StrengthJurisdiction Policy Files. If notdownloaded yet go tohttp://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp, scroll down tothe Other Downloads section andselect the appropriate link (seescreenshot). Save it somewhere inyour file system.

11. Navigate to the downloadedZIP in your file system, selectit and click on Next.

12. Next you have to provide themaster password for all users.For our workshop takeabcd1234. Click on Next.

13. A Prerequisites Checkermight detect some unfulfilledrequirements. Click No andignore warnings. If you getthe same message as shown inthe screenshot and you wantto solve this issue, continuewith the following 3 steps.Otherwise continue with step17.

14. Open your computer’s systemproperties (Start ControlPanel System) and switchto the Advanced tab. Click onthe Settings button in thePerformance section.

15. The Performance Optionsdialog box opens. Switch tothe Advanced tab and clickon the Change button withinthe Virtual memory section.

17. Confirm the ParameterSummary page by clickingon Next. The installationbegins (can last up to 20minutes depending on yourhardware).In some installationsadditional questions regardingthe MaxDB installation mightpop up. They are self-explanatory. Confirm themappropriately.

19. After some more minutes theSAP Management Console(SAP MMC) shows therunning processes.

20. In case the SAP MMC doesn’tshow up automatically,proceed as follows: locate theSAP Management Consoleicon on the desktop. Double-click it. The SAP MMCopens.

21. You will see a list of SAPSystems. The top node will bethe SAP instance that consistsof a database, a Java instance,and a central servicesinstance. The number behindthe server name indicates theinstance number (in our case 0for the Java instance and 1 forthe central services instance).

22. In some rare cases it happens,that the database is not startedautomatically. Verify this byopening the Services dialogbox via Start ControlPanel AdministrativeTools Services

23. Scroll down until theMAXDB: CE1 entry appears.Make sure that the StartupType is set to Automatic. Ifthis is not the case, right clickon the entry and selectProperties from the contextmenu.

24. The Properties dialog boxopens. From the Startup typedropdown list selectAutomatic. Confirm yourchange by clicking on OK.Start the service so that thedatabase is up and running.Close the Services dialog boxand jump back to the SAPMMC.

25. Gray indicates that theinstances are stopped. To startthe instance, first select theinstance and click on theStart icon ( ).

26. You can leave the defaultvalues and click on the OKbutton.

27. Supply OS user credentialsand click the OK button.

28. Green indicates that theinstance has started. Please bepatient as this might takeseveral minutes. Yellowindicates that the instance is inthe process of starting up.Note that the database iconremains blue.

29. Green indicates that the serveris started. To stop the serverclick on the Stop icon ( ).

30. As an additional test whetherthe installation wassuccessful, you can reach theJava EE engine homepage vialocal browser by entering thefollowing URL into thebrowser address line:http://localhost:50000 .

INSTALLING THE SAP NETWEAVER DEVELOPER STUDIO

(NWDS)

1. JDK 5.0

Verify that you have a JDK 5.0installed on your PC. If this is notthe case download the latestversion of JDK 5.0 fromhttp://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jspand install it. At the time of thiswriting Update 16 was the latestrelease. Do not use JDK 6.0!

2. Open the folder where theNWDS installation package islocated and extract the RARfile to your local drive.

3. After extracting the RAR file,navigate into the IDE folder.

Hint: If you are interested inadditional information aboutthe installation process forNWDS, open file index.htmlwithin the IDE folder.

4. Locate theNWDS_platform.zip ZIP fileand extract it to your localdrive.

5. A new eclipse folder appears.Navigate into the folder,locate theSAPNetweaverDeveloperSudio.exe file and start the SAPNetWeaver Developer studioby double-clicking it.

6. Supply a workspace directorywhen prompted. Accept thedefault value and click onOK.

7. You will be presented withthe message shown in thescreenshot only if you have aunsupported JVM selected asyour default. Click OK. Youwill then be prompted toselect a JDK 5.0.

8. Make sure to select the JDKbin directory.

9. Select javaw.exe and clickOpen

10. Click Exit when prompted.The NWDS will shut down.

11. The NWDS_platform.zip filecontains the kernel of NWDS.The kernel does not containthe SAP features necessary todevelop SAP NetWeaverapplications. The SAPfeatures are installed with theupdate manager. Start theNWDS again by usingSapNetweaverDeveloperStudio.exe

It is recommended to create ashort cut on your desk toppointing to the executable.

12. Confirm the location of yourworkspace by clicking OK.

13. The update manager isautomatically invoked whenNWDS starts up. The updatemanager asks you to select thefolder of the local site. Thelocal site is the folder inwhich theNWDS_platform.zip file wasextracted (see step 4 of thisinstallation). Navigate to thisfolder and click on OK toproceed.

14. Select all of the updates andclick on the Next button.

15. Accept to the licenseagreement and click Next.

16. On the Optional Featuresscreen you can leave thedefault selected values as isand click on the Next button.

17. Confirm the installationlocation and click Finish.Please be patient as this couldtake several minutes.

18. Click on Install All whenprompted with the FeatureVerification.

19. Re-start your NWDS byclicking Yes.

20. Once the NWDS restarts youwill once again be presentedto confirm your workspace.

Optional: Select the checkboxto confirm your defaultworkspace.

Click on OK.

21. Once NWDS has re-started,open the Preferences dialog(Window Preferences…)to set the location of yourruntime system.

23. Click on Add new SAPSystem

24. Enter your hostname(localhost) and instancenumber. You can find yourinstance number within theSAP Management Console.By default it is 0. Click onOK.

INSTALLING THE ENTERPRISE SERVICES REPOSITORY

(ES REPOSITORY)Before starting the installation make sure that the Java engine is running and the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio has been started.

1. Together with the serverinstallation, the archives forthe ES Repository have beendelivered. Double check theirlocation. Go to the directoryin which you’ve extracted theserver files (compare steps 1and 2 of the server installationdescription right at thebeginning of this document).You will identify the directorynamed Additional (seescreenshot). Within that folderyou will find the ESR_SCAsfolder, which contains thearchives we want to deploynext.

2. For deployment, we move tothe already opened NWDS.Click on Window OpenPerspective Other….

3. The Open Perspective dialogpops up. Select theDeployment entry and clickon OK.

4. The Deploy View opens.Select the ExternalDeployable Archives nodeand click on the Add elementbutton (green plus sign, ).

5. Navigate to the folder that weidentified during step 1, selectthe three archives and click onOpen.

6. Leave all settings as they are.Click on the Deploy button.

7. In case the dialog box in thescreenshot appears, make surethat all three archives arehighlighted (see step 6). If thisis the case, continue with OK,otherwise click Cancel andselect all archives or simplyselect the root node ExternalDeployable Archives andpress the Deploy button again.

8. As we connect to the enginefor the very first time, wehave to provide the credentialsadministrator as User andabcd1234 as Password.Check the Store user namecheckbox and click on OK.The deployment starts.

Be patient as it might takesome minutes due to the factthat the server will berestarted (automatically)during deployment.

9. An appropriate dialogconfirms the successfuldeployment. Click on OK tocontinue.

10. If you’d like to test thesuccessful installation of theESR, you can jump to chapter“ADDITIONAL SETTINGSIN THE ENTERPRISESERVICES REPOSITORY(ES REPOSITORY)” at theend of this document, page57.

11. The software is successfullyinstalled on your server. Nowthe time has come toconfigure it. Fortunatelyconfiguration templates willhelp you. In summary we willrun through 4 of thosetemplates.

First we need theconfiguration of the SystemLandscape Directory. TheES Repository requires it. Inyour web browser open theSAP NetWeaverAdministrator via the URL

http://localhost:50000/nwaLogon with the credentialsadministrator/abcd1234.Click on Log On. Click onConfiguration Management

Scenarios. Click onConfiguration Wizard to getto the configuration templates.

Note 1: What is a SystemLandscape Directory? TheSystem Landscape Directory(SLD) is a one stop location tomaintain information aboutthe state of your landscape. Inour context, it is importantbecause it has the list ofcurrent software componentversions. If you already havean SLD that you are usingwith an existing ESRepository, you can go aheadand use the same. Otherwise,you can setup an SLD locallyin the same system (it’s notperformance intensive!)

Note 2: For the execution ofall templates keep thefollowing in mind: due to thelong runtime of sometemplates it can happen, thatthe template cannot befinished successfully (e.g. youget an error messagecomparable to the onedepicted to the right). In theserare cases either click on theRepeat Step button or restartthe template.

12. The Configuration Wizardlists all available templates. Inthe Configuration Taskssection scroll down to theInitial setup of functionalunit SLD entry. Select it andclick on the Start button.

13. Select the TypicalConfiguration Mode andclick on the Next button.

39. Fill out the GeneralInformation tab as shown inthe screenshot. As initialpassword enter abcd1234. Wewill change it after the firstlogin. Click on Save.

Note: for the exercises of theSOA Experience Workshop,the dummy E-mail addressentered in this dialog is “goodenough”. However if you aregoing to build more complexscenarios, which allow thesending of notifications via E-mail, you might want toconsider a valid E-mailaddress.

5. Next select the Web Services Enterprise Service
