While you do purchase leafy vegetables, do you know how it is grown? The answers might be different! To remain in good health, a lot of us consume these leafy vegetables regularly, but given the amount of chemicals used when growing these veggies, consuming them may do more harm than good. These chemicals can have devastating effects on aquatic animals as well.

To raise awareness on this issue and to promote Organic Gardening, a campaign was held by Team Greenolu-tion. Here are some inspiring Organic Gardening stories received from employees.

1. Mr. Shyam R. Ramaiya

2. Mr. Ganguly Saikat

Mr. Shyam Ramaiya and his wife, Mrs. Dhruva Ramaiya planted herbal medicinal plants like Justicia adhatoda (Adulasa/Ardusi), Arjun, Basil (Tulasi), Bryophyllum (panfuti/ life plant), karanja tree, Aloe vera at their home. They also grow curry leaves, lemon and in their garden.

Mr. Saikat Ganguly from Maithon planted Lady Finger, Chilies, Lemon, Gourd, pumpkin, papaya plants at the gallery and backyard of his home. He use only organic manures (Dried cow dung) forsaplings. Due to which plants are showing good growth.

3. Mr. Subhojit Ghosh

Mr. Subhojit Ghosh from Haldia with his family developed organic garden near their house. They have planted Lady Finger, Green Chillies, Brinjal, Tomato, Cabbages and Cauliflower.

4. Mr. Abdul Salam

Mr. Abdul Salam has been running a wonderful initiative of "Terrace Gardening" at his residence in Vashi.. Hun-dreds of plants are now being cared for by Mr. Salamand family. His produce includes herbal plants, horticultur-al plants, vegetables, etc.

5. Mr. Rajesh Kanani

Mr. Rajesh Kanani planted Ridged Gourd, Bitter gourd, Lady Finger, Cluster Beans, Bottle Gourd, Drum Sticks, tomatoes and string beans in back yard of his house and these are grown without using any fertilizers.

6. Mr. Krishna Talekar

Mr. Krishna Talekar from Walwhan, Lonavala created a small organic farm near Walwhan Environment center. He has been using cow dung and dry leaves as fertilisers for this farm. He grows rice, lentils, Jowar and vegetables.
