lVR CologneSince the year 2005, the lVR tower, the head office of the landschaftsverband Rheinland, standing 103 m in height, has dominated the sky line of the Cologne district of Deutz. Over 84,300 sq. m. of useful space that is distributed over 29 floors, F90/EI90 AluRapid® access panels provide safety and scope for unlimited access and maintenance work.

University Clinic Eppendorf, Hamburg

Hamburg is home to Europe‘s most modern hospital. Here, just under 6,000 employees provide medical care to around 50,000 ward patients and 70,000 outpatients, and deal with more than 40,000 emergency cases every year.

A further focal point is the area of research and teaching. RUG SEMIN is satisfying the strict requirements of this project with AluProtect®, Alumatic F30/EI30 smokeproof and Alumatic F30/EI30 2 x 12.5 mm access panels.

Since the opening of the flagship store in September 2007, over a sales area of 2,000 sq. m., the shoe trading company has been presenting 17,000 pairs of shoes in an innovative shop concept that covers all of the brands. A specially designed “catwalk”, quiet zones and offers of entertainment and refreshments provide a special atmosphere.

We provided ceiling and wall panels without fire protection requirements to this unconventional building.

ibis Hotel Bremen

In the ibis Hotel Bremen Centrum, a citycentre hotel with 162 rooms and meeting rooms all of the corridors were constructed according to fire resistance class F90/EI90. F90/EI90 2 x 20 mm ceiling panels are also helping to ensure the safety of the hotel guests and personnel here.

WestendDuo Frankfurt / M.

With its impressive double towers, the Westend Duo isn’t only a further highlight on the Frankfurt skyline, innovative construction techniques mean these 96 m high towers are also a low energy building. The completely innovative ceiling constructions facilitate the columnfree design of all its rooms (apart from the corner pillars) and also accommodate the supply areas for the IT/communication, light supply and ventilation. Straightforward and safe access to these is guaranteed by the airtight ceiling flaps.

The nominal dimension that is offered (external dimensions of the mounting frame) is manufactured down to the exact mm according to the perforated flap design that is used for the mounting in the centre of the grid. The internal dimension of the frame of the flap lid is 10 mm smaller. Supply and installation of the perforated boards in the grid is not included in the scope of supply.

For the installation, a total of 8 base-profiles (approx. 0.6 mm) are supplied per flap for any adjustments that may be necessary. These can be attached by screw between the perforated plasterboard and mounting frame and/or the frame of the flap lid, and therefore offset any possible deviations that occur due to the tolerances of the perforated boards.

Special sizes for ceiling installation, 2 and/or multi-leaf are possible

The ceiling installation of the access panel in this size requires, among others,

— the replacements that are necessary according to the guidelines of the suspended ceiling manufacturer

AluProtect® F30/EI30 access panel

The first maintenancefree fire protection access panel. For ceiling and wall.

A maintenancefree access panel?

Previously fire protection access panels required an additional fire protection cover to protect the flap in the suspended ceiling area (generally a mineral fibre set). To guarantee the requested fire protection, the exact fitting of this fire protection set is necessary. For maintenance or repair work, after opening the flap, the set has to be moved in order to enable access to the inspection opening.

We have completed the practical test!

Construction projects were visited on a random basis one year subsequent to completion and the correct fitting of the fire protection set was checked.

The result: With up to 70% of the flaps fitted, the fire protection set was no longer fitted correctly or it was no longer present.

The result: Fire protection is no longer guaranteed!

With the AluProtect®, RUG SEMIN has reliably and permanently eliminated this risk for the first time:Through the use of the latest insulation material that has been designed so that it is firmly connected with the mounting frame and the pivoting flap lid of the fire protection flap, an additional fitting (the fire protection set) is no longer neces-sary. High quality foaming agents respond to extremes of temperature and therefore secure fire safety of the flap in the event of a fire.

This means safety is guaranteed over the long term. Regular inspections of the fire protection sets are no longer required.

This means that the AluProtect® is the first maintenancefree access panel!
