The Supreme Court has ruled thatthe Aadhaar Card may be used toavail government schemesincluding employment guarantee,pension and bank accounts.

Call drops: TRAI plansto impose fines
The Telecom RegulatoryAuthority of India (TRAI) hasraised the penalty on telecomoperators to up to Rs. 2 lakh forpoor mobile service quality,including call drops.
TRAI said that the penaltyamount would be as high asRs. 2 lakh if the operators areunable to meet the benchmarkset for the quality of service intwo or more subsequentquarters.The penalty will also beimposed if call drops in aquarter average more than 2%of the total traffic in a telecom

It is the independent regulatorof the telecommunicationsbusiness in India.It was established in 1997 byan Act of Parliament toregulate telecom services andtariffs in India.In January 2000, TRAI wasamended to establish theTelecom Disputes SettlementAppellate Tribunal (TDSAT)to take over the adjudicatoryfunctions of the TRAI.The TDSAT was set up toresolve any dispute between alicencor and a licensee,between two or more serviceproviders, between a serviceprovider and a group ofconsumers. Rameswaram town in TamilNaidu has been included in AtalMission for Rejuvenation andUrban Transformatin (AMRUT)for providing basic urbaninfrastructure. This wasannounced on the occasion of84th birth anniversary of formerPresident Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam.
The Ministry of UrbanDevelopment has so faridentified 497 cities and townsunder Atal Mission underwhich basic infrastructure isto be developed in 500 citiesand towns.Rameswaram is the 498th tobe included in the Mission.With the addition ofRameswaram, Tamil Naduwould have 32 cities andtowns under Atal Mission.

Jawaharlal Nehru National UrbanRenewal Mission (JNNURM).
AMRUT adopts a projectapproach to ensure basicinfrastructure servicesrelating to water supply,sewerage, stormwater drains,transportation anddevelopment of green spacesand parks with specialprovision for meeting theneeds of children.Under this mission, 10% ofthe budget allocation will begiven to states and unionterritories as incentive basedon the achievement of reformsduring the previous year.AMRUT will be implementedin 500 locations with apopulation of one lakh andabove.It would cover some citiessituated on stems of mainrivers, a few state capitals andimportant cities located inhilly areas, islands and touristareas.Under this mission, states getthe flexibility of designingschemes based on the needs ofidentified cities and in theirexecution and monitoring.States will only submit state

a new scheme, called VIKALP,that would allow waitlistedpassengers of a train to opt forconfirmed accommodation inalternate trains.
The Alternate TrainAccommodation Scheme(ATAS), also called VIKALP,will come into effectbeginning 1st November on apilot basis for six months onDelhiLucknow and DelhiJammu routes for ticketsbooked online.The scheme has beenlaunched with a view toprovide confirmedaccommodation to waitlistedpassengers and also to ensureoptimal utilisation of availableaccommodationIn this scheme, waitlistedpassengers of a train can optfor confirmed accommodationin alternate trains.
The ministry has also clarifiedthat opting for VIKALP does notmean confirmed berth will beprovided to passengers inalternate train as it is subject totrain and berth availability. Also,once confirmed in alternate train,cancellation charges will apply as

choices (of the fans) too … India isknown for long for its multiple virtues, as tolerance …let us not forget thatsuch cumulative activities is alsotarnishing the repo of our countryworldwide … atleast we could expect acertain degree of tolerance andmotivation from them to consolidatethis crisislike situation(under andover the carpet) in Indiacurrently(atleast on their behalf) itneeds patience and cooperation onpart of all the stakeholders for thesuccessful running of a buddingdemocracy… especially the mediashould act responsibly … let u alsoremember that there are global eyeswatching our activities(both friendsand foes) who might be sourcing theeagerlywaiting disrupting actors ofthese untowards and undesirableevents/activities (currentlyhappening) to destabilize our peacefulstatus … it’s not merely a locallevelblame game(as it is projected in themedia ,i guess) ,rather could be astrategic attempt to plunder our hardearned independence and nationalintegrity ….it could be a neocolonialhegemony too … i am surprised attimes why rather important areas ofnational interest aren’t catching thecolumns these days(e.g enlighteningissues as tribals,agriculture, importantbills, periscope etc), rather onlycommunal masala finding place in thedaily nationals ..if society is on awrong track, it equally becomes animportant duty of the socalledFOURTH PILLAR of democracy to act
