You Don’t Have to QuitYou Don’t Have to Quit
Good things take time before they’re good... Develop an attitude of trust. God can change situations. His name is Deliverer. One of the most often-repeated commands in the Bible is to “wait on
the Lord.” Waiting on God:
♦ “grows you up;”
♦ keeps your eyes off yourself and on the Lord;
♦ gives you staying power. The apostle John could have spent his time pacing that barren little beach where he was exiled on the Island of Patmos. He could have felt bitter about what “they” did to him, and scanned the horizon every minute for a rescuer. But he didn’t! Quieted under the hand of God into a position of trust and receptivity, John received the most fabulous revelation of Jesus Christ and His future which any man has ever received. As a result, he wrote the Spirit-breathed book of Revelation. Do you feel as if you’re on a “Patmos” in your life? Are you feeling caught and trapped? Settle down. Look up. Let God decide whether He will act according to your many desires. For you, it will be perfect...
~Pastor Dennis
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of
God.” Revelation 2:7

Staying Connected
What Is Your Image? (continued from pg. 14) do the things they do. It has also made me think about my actions. Do I display a more self-centered image, or is it more Christ centered? So how are we to live a more Christ-centered life when we are constantly faced with other distractions, which are so enticing? Here are four simple lessons to help us portray the image that is more Christ centered. 1. Jesus calls us to “deny ourselves.” Quit trying to be the “Brand” that we think we should be, whether it be the star athlete, musician, or politician. We spend too much time obsessing about the “Brand” image that we want to be and less time on the image that Christ wants us to be. Read Mark 8:34-38
2. Jesus calls us to not hide our brokenness. We are all hurting inside from something and try to push it down deep within us to be invincible. When we do this, we are portraying the image that everything is okay. God wants us to express our brokenness to him, admit we are not perfect, and give it to him. If we can accept our brokenness, then he will take care of it for us. Read Luke 18:35-43
3. What are our actions saying about our image? Are the things we do on a daily basis--the way we act--the way Jesus would want us to act? What is the old saying? “Actions speak louder than words!” Read Luke 6:43-45
4. Be Fearless! This one is hard also but don’t let what others think about your actions and your image control you. If you are leading a life that is Christ centered and following the actions that He would have you do, then is really doesn’t matter what others think. Read Luke 7:36-50
These are just small examples of the lessons that we are working on now.
Image to us is everything. We are a very image-driven society; always trying to
be the next great thing, showing we have no brokenness and working to benefit
ourselves rather than others. So, what can we do to change a little bit of our
daily lives to move towards a more Christ-centered image? What can we do to
“deny ourselves?” Remember it is okay to admit you’re broken and need Christ’s
help. Make your actions stronger than your words and remember to be
“fearless.” Don’t let others control the life Christ has planned for you. ~ Chad

What Is Your Image? “The Son [Jesus] is the image of the
invisible God...” Colossians 1:15a
We all have a certain image that we portray to the world. But when we look at that image, is it really the image we should be portraying? Is that image more focused on us, or is it more Christ centered? With today’s social media environment, it is very easy to portray the wrong image. It is very easy to hide behind a monitor or a smart phone and give an impression of the image that we think we need to be displaying. Is that image reflecting ourselves, or is it reflecting Jesus? I have been working on a lesson in Jr. High Youth group called “Jesus and Your Image.” It has challenged the youth to really think about themselves and why they
