You never truly know when their last breath, and the last time you see them.” The husband regretted their last conversation. “He wished he could have said I love you. Anything other than ‘good night sweetie.’ Imagine, living with that for the rest of your life. Hoping that you said something else to the person that meant so much to you.” Expressing our love to the ones we care about and who matter most in our lives is something we never should lose sight of ... no matter what day of the year. Hau’oli La Aloha ~ Happy Valentine’s Day

In tribute to Valentine’s Day I wanted to share a story of

love and sadly losing love.

James Morales was a pharmacy technician who helped

hundreds of people every day at this local pharmacy. Two

to three times a week an elderly couple came as they had been coming for

years. He and the pharmacy team got to know this couple as they were

always together and he knew exactly how to help them. The elderly woman

“was always happy” and friendly. While her elderly husband “stood beside

her, looking at her, paying close attention to things she say.” There was

never a day that this couple wasn’t together and he found it odd when the

elderly husband came to the pharmacy that day alone.

“Mr. Smith, how are you doing today?” he asked. He replied his usual

“could be better.” When the pharmacy tech informed him there were

prescriptions ready for him and his wife, he just stood there and was

quiet. The husband said “my wife, she passed yesterday night. I’m actually

here to return the medications because she wasn’t able to use it.” Upon

saying that the pharmacy team overheard and everyone stopped what they

were doing. It was silent as tears overcame them and Mr. Smith. He then

shared “... it was hard waking up today, to an empty side of the bed....I

promised her I’ll live and ... take life seriously and take my

medications. She’s watching over me and is the best angel I could ever ask

for.”

He then shared “make sure you tell the ones you love them and that you

appreciate them. You never truly know when their last breath, and the last

time you see them.” The husband regretted their last conversation. “He

wished he could have said I love you. Anything other than ‘good night

sweetie.’ Imagine, living with that for the rest of your life. Hoping that you

said something else to the person that meant so much to you.”

Expressing our love to the ones we care about and who

matter most in our lives is something we never should lose

sight of ... no matter what day of the year. Grace Bains https://www.scoopwhoop.com/old-couple-story-love/ 1/11/2020

Valentine’s Day Luncheon Friday, February 14, 2020

Luncheon: 11:30 am - Dining Rooms

Entertainment: Bu, Main Dining,

Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14. Traditionally in the west,

this is the day that lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's

cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery. The holiday, often referred to

as St. Valentine’s Day, is named after two among the numerous Early Christian

martyrs named Valentine. The day became associated with romantic love in the

circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the High Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly

love flourished.

The day is most closely associated with the mutual exchange of love notes in the

form of "valentines." Modern Valentine symbols include the heart-shaped outline,

doves, and the figure of the winged Cupid.

To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance. - Oscar Wilde
