Love Connection

Renee “Zippy” Tucknott and Sam Say were married at Retzlaff Vineyards in Livermore, California, on July 7, 2012. Many GAC friends attended the beautiful outdoor ceremony, including Zippy’s brother, Rod “Malibu” Tucknott, and sister, Robyn “Tiki” Smith. Zippy and Sam look forward to continuing the GAC tradition in their family. They are currently living in Los Angeles and are active in GAC Runners events throughout the year. Congratulations!

Former GAC Assistant Director Theresa “Roxy” Bisauta married Eric Wyles on the terrace at Auberge du Soleil in Rutherford, California, on July 26, 2012. The couple chose to have a very small ceremony, with just their families in attendance. They visited camp shortly before the wedding, and Roxy was thrilled to share GAC with Eric. After hearing so much about camp, he finally understood why it is such a special place for her. We wish them the best as they embark on this new chapter of their lives together.

5-year staff member Amanda “Peanut” Spindel married Justin Lee on July 21, 2012, at The Walnut Grove at Tierra Rejada Ranch in Moorpark, California. The couple was married in front of their closest friends and relatives in a beautiful ceremony

that happened just before sunset. They currently reside in Montana. Congrats!

On June 9, 2012, Janie “Sota” Taylor married Tanner “Tweeder” Tweed in Fresno. The couple met at camp in 2010. A huge group of past and present GAC staff attended the wedding. Congratulations, Tweeder and Sota!

(continued from previous page)happiness and our success, so it’s such an important quality to nurture! Here is what some of our 2012 campers learned about gratitude this summer:

I’ve learned…

To love what you have and not ask for more. -Julia

To be thankful for the great opportunities of trying new things and exploring new places. In addition, to be thankful for your parents for giving you these opportunities. -Jake

To be thankful for all that our parents do. -Jack

Expressing gratitude is just as important as feeling it. -Mady

Gratitude is the key to happiness. -Isabelle

There is always something to be grateful for. -Patrick

That even the smallest things come from somewhere and it took someone a lot of work, so I should be thankful. -Grant

That everything is a gift. -Alyssa

Thank you, campers, for your words of wisdom about gratitude! All of us at GAC wish you a grateful 2013!

gac campers rock!GAC Camper Kailey Galinson (far right) has been touring with her rock band, Breaking 27. Kailey is the keyboard player. The group is comprised of five kids from the Los Angeles area

who range in age from 11 to 13. They play both original music and popular songs. They’ve even auditioned to be on America’s Got Talent! This fall, the band has been traveling around Southern California to bring an anti-bullying assembly to area middle schools. They are looking for a corporate sponsor who can help them get the message about ending bullying to more schools. Look for more information about the “Break the Bully Tour” and Breaking 27 on their website at http://breaking27.com. You can also find them on Facebook. We are proud of Kailey and her efforts to help stop bullying.

Elizabeth Katherine Moeschberger was born on October 16, 2012, in Clovis. She weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz, and was 22 inches long. Ellie is the first child for longtime staff members Bean and Soy. She is very excited to meet all of the campers and staff at camp this summer.

On October 27, 2012, Kristin “Special K” (Kowalczyk) married Leif Johnson in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Several former GAC staff members ventured East to the Willow Valley Resort to attend the wedding, including Fiji, Reesi, AZ, Q, and Zippy. In an effort to put a creative touch on the wedding, Special K made her bouquet out of vintage brooches and pins she collected from her friends and family. She even used her GAC nametag! Since both Special K and Leif teach high school during the year, they are waiting until this summer to take a honeymoon trip to Norway. Congratulations to this happy couple!

The Manny Vezie Fund, named after Gold Arrow Camp’s founder, was created to provide two-week camp experiences for deserving children. Our Gold Arrow Camp families generously donated $9,130 in 2012. Thank you to the following families for their donations:

Kate “Pippin” and Brendon “007” Eddington welcomed their second son, Kevin, on April 3, 2012. His big brother, James, is now 4 years old and has been really enjoying his time at preschool. The two boys absolutely adore each other, and James is very protective of his

baby brother. The family looks forward to the day the boys can become campers. Congratulations!

Camper ProfileKate Scibelli will be returning to GAC for her fifth summer in 2013, and she is excited to be wrapped in her very own 5-year blanket. Kate is a monther, choosing to attend two sessions of camp each summer. She keeps returning every summer because she loves the friendships she has made over the years. She feels that the friends she makes at GAC are more like family than just friends, and she stays in

contact with them during the year. Her favorite activities at camp are wakeboarding and high ropes. Kate is known around camp for having a lot of energy and being fearless on stage. In addition to participating in her cabin’s Big Campfire skit each session, Kate often signs up to sing at Appreciation Campfire. When we asked Kate what advice she has for new campers, she said, “Be yourself because if you wait to the last minute to show who you really are, then no one will remember you.” Thanks for the great advice, Kate!
