Firstly the Instrumental Music Evenings held over the last two Tuesday evenings where around 120 of our students performed; not to mention the range of instruments including the accordion and tuba. It was wonderful to see the students from Years 1 to 7 perform with such confidence. This was a unique opportunity to see the growing talents of our musicians and observe the progression and skills developing over time in the wonderfully supportive environment of St Margaret’s Chapel. Thank you to the staff and instrumental teachers. Secondly I had the opportunity to watch a number of the soccer matches last Saturday and I couldn’t help but be impressed with the students’ exemplary sporting behaviours, trying their best, and simply enjoying playing with their peers. Thank you to the parents who have supported our sporting teams by way of managing, assisting with the barbecue etc. This week has also seen further opportunities that the Senior students have embraced by representing SPW; on Monday in the SAPSASA District Netball and Football (AFL) and yesterday in SAPSASA Knockout Soccer and Netball. Once again, the feedback we received about the way our students conduct themselves is a credit to our school community. It is great to see so many children taking up the opportunities presented to them and giving their all in their chosen endeavours. This week’s Chapel Service was a special Communion Service which linked with the theme of National Reconciliation Week. We were fortunate to have Bishop Chris lead us yesterday; he was South Australia’s first Aboriginal Anglican Bishop and only the third Bishop of Aboriginal descent in Australia. Until next time, have a wonderful weekend and keep warm. Simon Theel National Reconciliation Week Dear God, We ask you to forgive us for taking over the Aboriginal lands. Chaplain’s Chat PREPARATION FOR COMMUNION Preparation for Communion classes for pupils who have signed up began in the Chapel on Friday 3 June from 2.30-3.00pm and will continue at the same time in Weeks 6, 7 and 8. Classes are for pupils only. Parents and other significant persons in the students’ lives will be welcome at the Service in Week 9 when they will be admitted to Communion. CHAPEL SERVICES Yesterday we were honoured to welcome Bishop Chris McLeod to lead our Communion Service for National Reconciliation Week. Bishop Chris was South Australia’s first Aboriginal Anglican Bishop. He reminded us that reconciliation involves everyone in Australia working together to build friendship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The Year 6s will lead the Chapel Service next week on the theme of “Change and transformations”. Everyone is welcome.

PFA MONDAY BARBECUES Thanks for everyone's support. We are looking for help from the Year 2s and 4s this term; without our amazing parent helpers the barbecue simply cannot run. Please either add your name to the list on the shelter shed window, or email the PFA. The BBQ has been a sell out the last 3 weeks even though we keep increasing the kilos of sausages that we buy. We appreciate the volunteers who are giving up their time to cook the sausages. YEARS 3, 4, 5 SOCIAL EVENING—WEDNESDAY 8 JUNE, 6.00-7.30pm Please save the date. School Council and the PFA are inviting the Year 3, 4, and 5 parents to a social event. You will no doubt by now have received your invitation via email.
