Wow, what a whirl wind year it was… we are now in 2018, hopefully you all had the opportunity to spend time with family and friends through the holidays. Now that you have had a chance to relax and reflect on your successes of 2017, it is time to start making those goals for the New Year. Yes that is right, time to get busy planning 2018 and creating opportunity for even more success in the New Year!
4-H has some fun and educational activities that are just around the corner. High Desert Leadership Retreat will take place this month where youth participants will have a chance to meet new friends while learning leadership skills. This annual event that takes place over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. Youth that signed up will be receiving an email from me this week with important information so make sure you look at your email. Another event that is coming up and will be here sooner than later is Camp Tumbleweed. This is our annual camp for 4-6 grade youth. This year we had to make some changes to camp due to some contract issues. We are excited to announce that we moved to Camp Tadmor near Sweet Home. Stay tuned for more information soon.
Congratulations to all the award winners for their accomplishments throughout the year. With the state volleyball tournament going on at the same time as recognition night we were left with many record books and awards that still need picked up. If you have not picked up your book please do so soon it will help us get organized for the New Year. There are also awards that need picked up as well make sure you look through the newsletter to see if you are one that needs to stop by. I want to thank everyone for helping with recognition night it was a success. A huge thank you to Joe Davis and Black Bear Diner, I also want to thank RAPA for allowing us to have the event at their location. We would not be able to do the things we do without all the support from our local businesses.
As we begin 2018, I want to thank all of the individuals that make Jefferson County 4-H tick month to month. A big thank you to the Jefferson County 4-H board members for helping keep us on track each month, by paying the bills and supporting the fund raising efforts throughout the year. Also, to our club leaders that make sure the youth in the program are receiving the information they need to be successful throughout the year. Jefferson County 4-H is a great program because of the countless hours and shared expertise of all of our volunteers and I want to thank you all for a great 2017.
