A three day organisation specific training program was organized for the officials of IICA related to “Office Procedure”. The training was delivered by the faculty of the Institute of Secretarial Training & Management at IICA Campus. The focused area of the training was to disseminate knowledge in the areas related to office procedures dealing with RTIs, parliamentary affairs and drafting of noting’s and orders. The staff of IICA actively participated in the training program and gained value addition upon office procedures. Dr. Sharma delivered a speech about the significance of the Republic Day celebration. He articulated his views about the 1857 revolt. He mentioned that the ultimate aim of the revolt was to end the British rule in India. The revolt spanned for a total of 90 years (1857–1947). He linked the 1857 revolt with the Republic of India. The speech was well received by the audience with applause and appreciation. The First Meeting of the Steering Committee of National CSR Awards 2020 was held on 13th January 2020 at the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. It was attended by the key people of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, IICA and representatives of National Level Trade Chambers and Professional Institutes. The agenda of the meeting focused on a plan of action and activities to be taken up for up-scaling the National CSR Awards. IICA organized an awareness seminar on “Preamble & Fundamental Duties” for its employees on 31st December, 2019 at IICA Campus to make them aware of the values & principles enshrined in our Constitution including Fundamental Duties to promote responsible citizenship. 31 December, 2020 Drive on Fundamental Duties NFCSR under IICA successfully conducted the two-day capacity building program on CSR for the partners of Gail Limited. Mr. Sanjay Gupta, DGM (CSR) and Ms. Anjali Sood (Senior Manager) from Gail Limited graced the program with their presence. The program aimed at training the participants about the CSR project development, implementation and impact assessment. Ms. Nita Chowdhury-IAS officer inaugurated the program and delivered a session focusing on the growing need for improving and innovating CSR implementation process. She emphasized that companies should inculcate effective project designing techniques to amplify the impact. Mr. Dinesh Agarwal- Former GM NTPC delivered his session on the subject “Aligning corporate strategy to community needs.” He discussed how data from need assessment may be used in baseline study. He also stressed upon the fact that the main outcome of need assessment surveys include getting insights about the needs and problems of the community. 23-24 January, 2020 Ms. Nita Chowdhury Mr. Dinesh Agarwal Two-Day Capacity Building Program on “Corporate Social Responsibility” 04 January, 2020 at Mumbai 09 January, 2020 at New Delhi IICA signs Memorandum of Understanding with ICSI and ICAI To promote and evolve Independent Directorship as a Profession in India, IICA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI). The Memorandum of Understanding encourages the Company Secretaries and the Cost Accountants of India to register themselves, with the Independent Directors’ Data Bank as aspiring Independent Directors. Under the terms of MoU, the parties have entered into an academic collaboration for sharing knowledge resources, jointly carry out research studies, conduct events, conferences, workshops, webinars etc. for continuous professional development of the Independent Directors. Regional Awareness workshops on National CSR Awards 2020 are being organized in different regions of the country (Northern, North-East, Eastern, Western and Southern regions) in association with different Industry Chambers with the following objectives: i) To attract more number of quality nominations in different categories of awards; ii) To build capacities of the Nominating organizations; and iii) To create awareness among companies about nomination procedures. Regional Awareness Workshops have been conducted as per the details provided under : a) Western region: The Regional Awareness Workshop in the Western region was organized on 29th January 2020 at Mumbai (Bandra) with the support of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a Workshop partner. 50 Corporate representatives situated in the Western region, interested to apply for National CSR Awards 2020 participated in the workshop. Shri Manmohan Juneja, Regional Director (Western Region), Ministry of Corporate Affairs highlighted various aspects on ‘’Government commitment to CSR’’. Dr. Garima Dadhich, Nodal Officer, NCSRA introduced the Scheme for National CSR Awards 2020 and a process to be followed thereon. Open House and Nomination filling Session were facilitated by Ms. Amrita Gupta, Ms. Sampada Bhusare, Confederation of Indian Industry & Shri Ravi Raj Atrey, Programme Manager, NCSRA. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mohan Rao, Director, IES Management College and Research Centre. b) Northern region: The Regional Awareness Workshop (North) was organized on 24th January 2020 at New Delhi with the support of ASSOCHAM as a Workshop partner. Participants were from the Corporte fraternity of the northern region, interested to apply for National CSR Awards 2020 and other nominating organizations. About 60 participants turned up from 40 different companies. Shri Abhijit Phukon, Director, Ministry of Corporate Affairs addressed the gathering about Government commitment to CSR. Dr. Garima Dadhich, Nodal Officer, NCSRA introduced the participating companies about the scheme for National CSR Awards 2020 and the process to be followed. Open House and Nomination filling sessions were facilitated by Shri Sandeep Kumar Jain Joint Director & Head CSR, ASSOCHAM & Shri Ravi Raj Atrey, Programme Manager, NCSRA 10-11 January, 2020 IICA-DPE “Orientation Program for Government Nominee Directors” The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) concluded a two-day orientation program for govt. nominee Directors of CPSEs at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The capacity building initiative was organized with the objective of helping participants gain actionable best practices and guidance to make an immediate impact in their boardrooms. 8-10 January, 2020 1st Capacity Building Seminar for Officers of FOIR Members The Forum of Indian Regulators Centre at IICA successfully conducted its “1st Capacity Building Seminar for Officers of FOIR Members” at Goa. The theme of the seminar was Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA). RIA is a systemic approach to critically assess the positive and negative effects of proposed and existing regulations and non-regulatory alternatives. Conducting RIA within an appropriate systematic framework can underpin the capacity of governments to ensure that regulations are efficient and effective in a changing and complex world. Some form of RIA has now been adopted by developed countries such as USA, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany etc. Participants from different regulatory bodies such as IBBI, AERA, CCI, PNGRB, CERC etc. attended the seminar. 17-19 December, 2019 IICA – GIZ GmbH National Capacity Building Program for “BMO Managers on Innovation Promotion in MSMEs” The Centre for MSME, IICA in partnership with GIZ GmbH successfully conducted the first series of the three day National Capacity Building Program for “BMO Managers on Innovation Promotion in MSMEs”. The capacity building program was organized under the German Bilateral Development Cooperation Project on “Programme for Modernisation and Innovation Promotion in Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises in India (MSME INNO)”. This capacity building initiative was organized with the objective to improve the MSME innovation ecosystem. The objective is to build the capacity at grass root level and equip BMO Managers to effectively take up operational roles towards sustainable growth of BMOs (industry associations / chambers) and also managing various activities like events, information dissemination, government advocacy etc. for promoting interest of MSME members. 27-31 January, 2020 5 day residential training program for the Officers and Research Associates of Competition Commission of India School of Competition Law and Market Regulation, IICA has successfully conducted a 5 day residential training program for the officers and research associates of Competition Commission of India. The program was inaugurated by the ChairPerson of CCI, Shri. Ashok Kumar Gupta. The aim of the program was to equip the Officers and Research Associates of CCI, to deal with the aspects pertaining to general office proceedings, Competition Law and other Corporate Laws, concepts of economics with a clear focus on industrial organization, public procurement, financial reporting, overview of regulatory architecture, etc Mr. Rahul Singh as a faculty took three sessions, focusing on competition law, its inter-sectoral conflicts and a case study on leniency application. Dr. Niraj Gupta provided his insights on the subject “Competition, market interface and corporate governance”. 05 December, 2019 – 05 January, 2020 Training of Trainers Program for Shortlisted Resource Persons (RPs) School of Finance, IICA successfully conducted Two Training of Trainers (ToTs) program for the shortlisted Resource Persons (RPs) in Udaipur and Bhopal. The ToTs provided in-depth understanding of investments, retirement planning, insurance planning, succession planning, financial frauds, regulatory and grievance redressal mechanism, crypto currencies, budget & saving and mutual funds. The delivery was through a mix of training methods - classroom teaching, presentations, exercises and case studies. Participants comprising RPs from SEBI, ICAI, ICSI, retired bankers, SHGs, academicians and working and non-working women attended the program. 23-27 December, 2019 IICA-IES One Week Probationary Training Program on Governing Corporate Affairs IICA designed and developed a 1 week training program for the officer trainees of IES Batch 2018 with a view to provide vital Inputs on Corporate Affairs, Corporate Governance, Competition Law, Finance, Insolvency Law etc. Program structure was developed by keeping in view their role and responsibilities and to expose them on Governing Corporate Affairs. Program witnessed engaged participation from 10 delegates of IES (Batch 2018). IICA signs Memorandum of Understanding with ICSI and ICAI
