FROM THE CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE For the week of June 26, 2017 For more information, contact City Manager Brian McBroom, or Deputy City Managers Troy Smith and Roger Tinklenberg. Inside the city Information on latest happenings, items of interest. To see events posted on the city wide calendar please visit our website. Council follow-up Resolution of action items or requests from previous meetings. New Website Debuts On July 10 from about noon to 1 p.m., the city’s new and improved public website and employee intranet go live. One of the biggest upgrades is that the sites are more mobile-friendly which is important since many of the public visitors and employees access these sites from a mobile device. New colors and design give them a fresh look and the search function is more prominent. Information may be organized in different places than the previous website. The new design and functionality is more “services” focused instead of “department” focused to better serve the public. All of the page links and document link URLs on our new sites will be different than the old sites. If you come across city documents, publications, pages, etc. that have broken links, please email Julia Emko, [email protected], after July 10 so they can be addressed. Screenshots of the new sites are attached. Neighborhood Outreach Update On June 8, 2017, the City hosted the first of two Neighborhood Outreach events at Fronterra Park. City staff and volunteers served 975 plates with program participants consuming 1,150 hotdogs and 900 bags of chips, lots of veggies, watermelon and drinks. Staff estimates approximately 950 guests, volunteers and city staff participated in the event. There were 49 community organizations and city departments sharing information about services and resources available to residents. The GoWild GOCO Inspire Initiative helped fund all of the yard games and activities; live music was provided by “That 80’s Band”. Councilmember Carson asked about return on investment for the City-owned street lights. The information below is from the April 13, 2015 Council Study Session presentation on Tower Road Lighting Analysis. This shows that, over a 10-year period, the LED, City-owned lights are more cost- effective. Annualized costs for the United Power options exceed the cost of City-owned lights after 2.05 to 2.25 years.
