As we approach the new year we reflect on our past

experience over the previous year. For us in Spring, Texas it has

been a long hard one. There are still plenty of people who were

affected with Harvey the Hurricane and still have not completely

recovered. For those we send our deepest thoughts. If there is

anything that we might do to help you in the needlework world,

please do not hesitate to ask. Remember needle workers help each

other and we here at 3 Stitches certainly want to help.

We lower our inventory at the end of the year and build it back up

in January. Orders are ready to be placed as soon as all the

manufacturers and designers have recovered from the holidays and

are back taking orders again. Remember we are retailers and do not

take as much time off as others.

Hardanger – Tuesday, January 9 – 7-9pm

Sampler – Thursday, January 11 – 7-9pm

Fiber Club – Tuesday, January 16 – 7-9pm

Fiber Club – Thursday, January 18 – 2-4pm

The starting classes listed above are year long classes. They all meet once a month

except for the Hardanger class which meets twice a month for 6 months.

Stitching Tip: Facts About Hand Dyed Fabrics – All Hand Dyed fabrics will vary

slightly in color depending on the count and density of the fabric. Due to the “antiquing”

process and the dyes used, we do NOT recommend washing hand dyed fabrics. If any

cleaning is necessary, we recommend dry cleaning. However, under no circumstances

do we recommend washing or dry cleaning espresso and cappuccino dyed fabrics,

because this will dramatically alter the color of the fabric.

Never store hand dyed fabrics in a zippered type plastic bag. A chemical reaction will

take place with plastic and the dye products used and color changes will take place. A

Q-Snap frame or plastic hoops can be used but should not be left on the hand dyed fabric

for non-working periods of time. Again, the plastics in the frame can react with the dyes

and change the colors or cause a framed effect on the stitched piece.

KNOWLEDGE!

Knowledge means ease of stitching.

The more we know about needlework, the more we know

there is to learn. It is relaxing to join us for classes and

events in the stitching world. Learning becomes fun when

shared with others. Something you have in common with

others - you stitch – they stitch. In class, students ask

questions and get answers. All of us learn together.

Classes must be paid at the time of reservation. If you need

to cancel a class, we must be notified 48 hours prior to the date to receive store credit.




Should you need a private class, call for an appointment. Private classes are priced

according to supplies and length. If you have a question, just ask.

Hardanger!

Tuesday, January 9 and 23, February 6 and 20, and March 6 and 20

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM ($34.75 + $20)

There is so much to learn in a Hardanger class. A kloster block is to Hardanger what an

x is to cross stitch. It is the foundation and from there everything is built. It is

mathematically correct. This year’s piece is being done on white linen with white cotton

thread. It gives a delicate and clean appearance. Join us as we learn various steps in the

process of making this delicate piece. Enjoy the company of fellow stitchers while

learning heirloom needlework.

The piece can be finished in a pillow, framing, or perhaps displayed on a table. Both #8

and #12 Perle cotton threads were used to make this beautiful Hardanger piece. Learn

why it is always so important to know where the tip of the scissors are located.

Sampler Class!

Thursday, January 11, February 8, and March 8

7:00 PM – 9:00 PM ($155)

This is a 12 x 14 small sampler but don’t let the size fool you. It is very detailed and

very delicate stitched on 32 Ct. French Roast from R & R. Various stitches are involved.

The Single Squared Herringbone, Squared Herringbone, Satin Stitch, Eyelet Stitches,

Rhoades Stitch, and Milanese Stitch just to mention a few. A scatter of beads and gold

thread gives this piece sparkle where needed.

Fiber Club!

There is a day class and an evening Fiber Club class. We will be making a stand up

when the project is complete using as many threads as possible.

Want to learn how to start and stop Hardanger? Well this is your chance to learn. It is

a show me how technique but once shown it is mathematically correct. There is so much

one can learn in a Hardanger class. It is endless and yet it can be very easy. It is fast

and you could even make hearts for Valentine’s. Come make hearts with us.

from the Nashville market in March. As you see new merchandise available in space,

purchase up or it will be mailed quickly to your location. We love keeping the UPS

Pitcher”. What will they think of next? “Farmhouse”

Series will be released in January, 2018. If you wish

Summer House Stitche Workes has “Fruitful Valley”. Use alphabet chart

below furnished in the chart to add your initials to upper right hand corner

of design. The year is very creative. Good choice Beth.

Bent Creek has “Today Is A Good Day” to brighten a day just for you.

Stitch this up and place it in a good viewing place. It will change your

attitude.

Imaginating has “Computer Cat” for those cyber space cat lovers. It is

designed by Kats by Kelly. We look forward to seeing more of these

charts. “Cowboy Christmas” is perfect for Texas. Cactus,

packages, Santa hat, and of course boots. What

more would you want? “Seas and Greetings” is a beach

Christmas piece with a tree and sled. Have you

ever seen a star fish in a sled well here is one. “Merry Christmas

Sampler” is rows of good stuff. This is a have to have chart just for the

different parts.

Country Cottage Needleworks has “Tis the Season” with Mr. & Mrs. Claus

dressed in pink outfits. See there is something for everyone. “Main

Street Grocery” is ready for business. For those who like pink, this building

is for you. Of course, you know we can change colors. We have lots to choose from.

Little House Needleworks has “Winter ABC’S” with a sled, a house,

mittens, snowmen, flowers, and much more. There are a few different

stitches which makes the piece interesting.

Shepherd’s Bush has “Richard’s Stocking” with lots of sheep and houses

below. There is also a deer standing beside Santa with his bag of toys.

Stitched on 18 Ct. Natural Linen with #5 Perle Cotton this makes this

an easy way to make stockings for the entire family.

Rosewood Manor has “Lime Walk”. Karen, the designer, said that when visiting

England and traveling the country side she always notices lovely houses, gardens, and

their names. This one seems to fit this sampler perfectly.

The Cross-Eyed Cricket has “Born Quilts” with a quilt

barn and a quilt angel. I love the owl on the barn quilts

piece. “Tapestry Blooms” is a vase of flowers with a flower

mitten on the back. Remember all the mitten designs that Vicki Hastings

did? Some of you were even in the afghan class.

The 3 XXX Rated Stitchers group meet on the first Thursday evening of the month.

What a way to rest after a long day. Whether it is after work or after a long day at home

with your duties, you will enjoy the evening. There is no charge to attend this event. It

is a great opportunity to sit with others and stitch. Bring your questions and we will

supply answers. The shop is always open during this time.

Wednesday morning is stitching time from 10:00 AM -

Noon. Enjoy the morning by starting the day off right. What a great place to stitch -

month! Become a member of this wonderful stitching group who
