We are the IIA Winnipeg Chapter! A proud member of the Institute of Internal Auditors since 1950, the Winnipeg Chapter has more than 280 members and is part of the global IIA membership of more than 170,000 internal audit professionals. IIA Winnipeg offers local training, education and networking via our meetings and events. Join us for breakfast, lunch, or better yet become a member and take advantage of all we have to offer. PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Welcome to all new members and hello again to everyone else! It is my pleasure to serve as the Winnipeg Chapter President over the next two years and I look forward to meeting more members and getting to know you all better!! Your Board of Directors has been busy over the summer completing strategic planning as well as working on developing and delivering an excellent selection of educational opportunities, a plan for promoting internal audit within Manitoba, and providing outstanding member service to everyone. We have had an excellent start to the year with a free lunch in September where Rob Kuling talked about the heightened expectations for internal auditors followed by our CAE Panel in October discussing communication challenges between Internal Audit and the Audit Committee. November’s event is in the works – check out the Education page for more details. We are also working on seminar as well as a social event in December so stay tuned! The chapter is also interested in continuing to offer Brown Bag lunches so if you have a topic you would like to discuss with your IA colleagues or you are able to provide a meeting space let us know! We would be happy to manage the event from sending out invitations and reminders, opening the discussion, as well as tracking attendance for CPE opportunities. The Board is here to serve your needs and the success of our chapter is based on participation and feedback from you! I hope that everyone has had an opportunity to complete the member survey sent out at the beginning of October. If not, or if you have any further questions or comments, we would love to hear from you! Chris Derby always appreciates ideas on luncheon topics or any courses you would like to see offered locally. Kerri Elyk is available in the VP, Member Services role which covers Certifications and Communications including our website. Brian Brown, VP Advocacy, is passionate about advocating for internal audit within our community. Last and not least, I am available to discuss any of these topics or whatever else may be on your mind. Please reach out to anyone on our Board! Remember you can also connect with us through LinkedIn so that you won’t miss anything going on with the chapter. Search for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Winnipeg Chapter group. Enjoy the weather while it lasts! Janet Hnytka, CIA, CRMA President, IIA Winnipeg Chapter

COMMUNICATION PAGE Chapter Achievement Program (CAP points) The CAP program is the IIA’s scorecard to measure the value added to you, the members. Chapters must earn a minimum number of CAP points in three service categories to qualify for a performance level. The Winnipeg Chapter has achieved a platinum level for several years now!

Chapter Achievement points are awarded to each chapter for activities it performs in these areas:

• Service to Members • Service to Profession • Chapter Administration

Points are obtained by offering members social events, luncheons and seminars, speaking engagements completed by our membership, articles published by our membership, members volunteering on national and international committees, maintaining a web presence, and many more areas.

The overall performance level goals are: Bronze Level = 685 points Silver Level = 1,060 points Gold Level = 1,560 points Chapters reaching Gold 10 of 11 years are Platinum.

Publications and Speaking Engagements Have you recently published an article or participated in a speaking engagement regarding our Internal Audit profession? This could contribute in our Chapters’ goal in CAP points. Please contact our Director of Chapter Administration Jude Friesen at: [email protected].
