Company: atEvent

Year founded: 2013

Bishop Ranch Location: BR6

Describe Your Business: atEvent provides corporate marketers with event-specific solutions that have real-time lead retrieval and lead nurturing functionality. Our integrated event marketing solution enables end-to-end event visibility whether you’re using a specific CRM, marketing automation system or technology vendor. We’ve done the legwork to integrate these platforms to make it easy to focus on extending your reach and ROI at events.

Biggest Challenges in Your Line of Work: Most businesses go to events for one reason only—to drive demand and create new sales opportunities. However, the process of measuring your success at capturing or generating leads at an event has remained very archaic despite advances in technologies. This was the driving force behind our decision to create atEvent.

Favorite Aspect of Your Work: I really enjoy the caliber of people I get to work with in the marketing industry—also, thinking about what we can create for our customers that is unique to the marketplace.

Least Favorite Task: Administrative duties, like submitting expense reports.

Source(s) of Inspiration: I am inspired by observing innovation within mature product categories. For example, I go to the grocery store to see how products are evolving or revamping their packaging. I love to see how people are thinking differently about products that one assumes can’t change. I’ve learned that it’s not about being first to market with something cool. It’s about delivering a better experience.

What Do You Excel At? My biggest strength—and that of our organization—is to help customers go to market with innovative solutions that improve demand for their products and brand.

Suggestions for Young Professionals: Be persistent! Many people want to jump onto the next shiny thing, but often find out they are too late to the game and quickly move on. Stick with what you are passionate about. Patience and persistence pay off.

A Goal You Still Want to Achieve: My major goal is to make atEvent a successful brand and a core platform used globally for event marketing. We’re very excited about the initial traction the product is seeing!

What is Your Favorite Pastime? Spending free time with my two daughters, Sarah and Sofia, and traveling as a family to new destinations.

How Do You Handle Stress? I’m a passionate squash player. It’s a great way to release stress and come back to the office focused and energized.

Favorite Vacation Spot: South Africa and Istanbul. I had an amazing time on safari in South Africa and I loved Istanbul because of the melding of cultures, the scenery, the people and the food.

Favorite East Bay Restaurant: I go to Piatti in the summer and sit outside on the patio, enjoying a good Mediterranean meal.

Favorite Music or Other Form of Art: Alternative rock music. My favorite band is Coldplay.

Is There a Special Cause That You Support? I support several organizations focused on literacy for women and kids in the developing world. The Citizens Foundation (TCF) helps young girls in Pakistan by opening schools and providing vocational training. I also support Development in Literacy (DIL), which drives literacy initiatives for children worldwide.
