Functional description
● FMS which can deliver a Xenon flow rate between 0,03 and 0,15mg/s composed of
– A high pressure MLI insulated xenon tank (140 bar MEOP) with heaters– Two thruster feeding lines (overshoot line and regulation line)– 2 safety barriers (HP solenoid valves)– 2 pressure sensors– 2 orifices– 2 MFV (Multi Function Valve)

Functional description
● MFV (Multi Function valve) acts as pressure regulator and mass flow rate regulator
● Closed loop on the pressure sensor signal to drive the MFV (PID control)
● Orifices precisely dimensioned to reach the targeted flow rate

● Initial conditions– Upstream pressure from 3bar to
60bar– Tests performed with Xe– Three operating points
representative of a 5kW range thruster (8,5mg/s - 11mg/s -16mg/s)
● Results : Transient phase < 20s (opening and closing) No overshoot obtained Good stability of regulated flow rate

● Way forward– New design (XFS) on going to
improve MAIT phase– Same performances with a
single regulation line– New tank to be designed
– TRL 6 foreseen at end of 2019 (procurement on going)
