INNOVATIVE PRACTICES AWARDS “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” The Platform The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development recognizes that ending poverty, hunger and social injustice must go together with strategies that build economic growth and addresses a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. Although the implementation and success of these goals will rely largely on each country’s own sustainable development policies and plans, the private sector has an important role to play in achieving the desired outcomes. The awards shall be presented at the GCNI flagship event ‘National Convention(NC)’ held every year. This year the st NC is to be held on 31 May 2019, another powerful platform to showcase best examples from organizations across Public and Private Sector Enterprises, Multinationals, MSMEs, NGOs, Entrepreneurs and B-schools to incorporate SDG’s into their business agenda and unlock value in terms of revenue growth, cost reduction, brand building or risk mitigation. The Competition, through case studies, will also highlight critical success factors that helped leading organizations implement SDGs efficiently. In order to invite nominations for a ‘Case Study Competition’, that would serve as a unique platform for learning through sharing of leading sustainability practices in India through innovation, investment and collaboration, all organizations are invited to participate from all across India. Recognizing these imperatives, the Global Compact Network India ( GCNI), an Indian arm of UN Global Compact, New York introduced these Awards in 2017 so as to recognise excellence & pioneering work of Business & Non- Business organizations. They were encouraged to showcase their innovative work by participating in the National Contest. Last year 65 organizations participated in the Contest. This year is rd the 3 edition. The Theme of the Competition As part of the Competition, organizations across India including Public and Private Sector Enterprises, Multinationals, MSMEs, NGOs, Entrepreneurs and B-schools are invited to submit case studies showcasing their efforts and initiatives implementing CSR and Sustainability initiative aligned with one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Outcomes for Applicant Organization Ÿ The 10 shortlisted organizations will present th their case studies in front of the jury on 25 May 2019. Ÿ Top 5 selected organizations will get an opportunity to present their case studies th during the GCNI 14 National Convention on st 31 May, 2019 at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai and will be awarded by Certificates and Trophy. Ÿ Top 10 case studies will be showcased in the Compendium. Ÿ The decision of the Jury would be final and binding on the participating team.
