Invented in Switzerland. Where the same innovative spirit drives textile progress today.

INNOVATION:IT’S INOUR DNAswisstextilemachinery.ch

Geneva, Switzerland, 1783: Jacob Schweppe invents a way of carbonating liquids, becoming the father of sparkling water – and founder of an industry which today sees over 200 billion liters of fizzy soft drinks per year consumed worldwide.

SWISS TEXTILE MACHINERY

The Association

The Swiss Textile Machinery Association is part of Swissmem – the leading association for SMEs and large companies in Switzerland‘s mechanical and electrical engineering (MEM) industries and related technology-oriented sectors.

Swissmem provides member companies in sector-specific groups with a forum for information exchange and marketing activities. Swiss Textile Machinery is the oldest of the 27 specialist groups within Swissmem.

The Swiss Textile Machinery Association is the representative body for Switzerland’s producers of textile equipment, systems and services. Currently 44 companies are affiliated, including manufacturers of ma-chines and components, and service providers, for the textile industry. The companies offer solutions covering the entire textile value chain, from spinning to weaving, knitting, finishing, embroidery and quality control.

The combined power of 4011 years of experience

Every member of the Swiss Textile Machinery Association has a unique innovation history. Experience has been passed down through the generations – along with the ‘inventor gene’ it seems. Many companies were established more than 100 years ago and the concept of innova-tion grew as a natural tradition for Swiss textile machinery manufactur-ers and service providers.

Their long-term success is not built on pure innovation for its own sake. Customers have always been the main drivers, and exceeding their needs the key objective. The blend of Swiss inventor spirit with top-class qualifications and expertise has created an unrivalled innovative advantage. The years of experience and the time-honoured tradition to innovate is regarded as even more than an added value. Customers of the Swiss Textile Machinery members trust on this foundation to enhance their business success.

Many of the textile technology innovations by Swiss companies have been established for decades – but there are still more to come, which will influence the worldwide industry in future.

This confident assertion is founded on an impressive statistic: 4011. This is the total years of experience behind the innovative power of the association’s member firms. It’s proof that their developments are sup-ported by profound knowledge and continuous research. Those years of inventiveness in the name of textile progress are comparable with the time-span from the earliest multicolored fabrics made in Ancient Egypt around 2000 BC to today’s ingenious technical textile products, used in applications such as building, and even integrated into walls, ceiling or floors.
