Objectives to Support Innovation
• Promoting the dialogue of the regional innovation stakeholders
• Identifying policy measures to improve the framework conditions
• Providing an overview of the WBC innovation systems• Identifying the research and market needs and analysing the
needs in innovation policy accordingly• Identifying good practices of innovation activities from the EU
and the WBC• Organizing training in the fields of technology transfer and
market innovation needs

Stocktaking
Task Leader: Ivo Pilar
The task includes:
1. Updated mapping of the WBC innovation systems and stakeholders. Comparative approach (ZSI-supported by the WBC partners and experts)
2. Identification of future research and market needs (esp. of SMEs).
Two on-line questionnaires have been designed accordingly (JRC-IPTS supported by Ivo Pilar) (starting date: early 2011)
3. Comparative analysis of the innovation capacity in the WBC. Focus on joint cooperation needs (Ivo Pilar)

Good practices
Fostering Innovation andAdapting Good Practices
Task Leader: PT-DLR/BMBF
At the moment drafting of the methodology
2nd half of 2011: collection of good practices;
Early 2012: selection of good practices (review meeting);
Autumn 2012: the selected good practice examples will be presented and analysed (review meeting) aiming at developing adaptation schemes;
End 2012: draft proposals for the implementation of adaptation schemes will be elaborated. Final report presenting adaptation schemes, policy recommendations and suggestions for joint activities
Action Plan for Future Joint Innovation Activities
Task Leader: ZSI
Core objective: Action Plan on Research and Innovation
for enabling the WBC to develop policies and strategic frameworks on innovation support at regional level
