Selamat Datang to Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, literally means ‘muddy confluence’. It was born at the meeting point of 2 significant rivers, the Sungai Klang and Sungai Gombak. Here is where the heart of Malaysia can be seen. From traditional customs to ultra-modern lifestyles, Kuala Lumpur offers an adventure like non-other to its visitors. Every corner offers entertainment and food for every hour of the day. From fine dining in world class restaurants to unbeatable street food vendors; High-end shopping in modern shopping complexes to a 300 million year old virgin rainforest located at the heart of the city, it fulfils every travellers’ desire. Kuala Lumpur will be the host for the 44th IFAWPCA Convention from 12th −16th November 2018 and we look forward to hosting you in this colourful and vibrant city seeped in state of the art modernity, culture and history.

Welcome Messages

Selamat Datang! MBAM is extremely pleased to host the 44th IFAWPCA Convention 2018. We welcome you back to Kuala Lumpur since our last two hostings in the years 1983 and 1998. Kuala Lumpur is an ever-evolving metropolitan as such those returning will notice how much the city has grown, both horizontally and vertically, yet retaining its ASEAN charm and greenery.

The 44th IFAWPCA Convention is themed “Strategic Alliance with Innovation & Human Capital”. It is aptly chosen to reflect the current need to constantly be in the know of industry developments that is both ever changing and complex as well as the importance of human capital in construction. Any growth or change in the construction landscape has spillover effects which besides boosting real estate and property values, helps improve the quality of lives in general.

It is my hope that the Convention and the Conference that we have planned will be a great platform to strengthen regional cooperation amongst IFAWPCA members as well as create drivers for better construction growth in the region.

On our end, we are working towards ensuring that your participation in the convention will be most fruitful, comfortable and enjoyable. You will experience the Malaysian hospitality at its best while in Malaysia and we are certain your trip will be a memorable one.

We welcome you to Malaysia, a melting pot of culture, history, modernity and nature. Where the spirit of Asia lives and thrives.

Foo Chek LeeMBAM President

With the modernisation and growth of the industry that supplies these developments, the need to link regionally, exchange experiences, knowledge and technology becomes eminent. The IFAWPCA Convention provides the perfect platform for member countries to address all these issues in a warm and welcoming environment made up of new and long-time peers.

The 44th IFAWPCA Convention hosted by Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM), brings the theme Strategic Alliance with Innovation & Human Capital as its core message; three components essential for the continued growth of the Construction Industry. With technology growing rapidly while the pool of experienced construction personnel shrinks, the need for a strategic alliance among member countries is even more vital now. The focus on human capital development is paramount; as such it will be one off the main subjects deliberated in the conference with prominent industry leaders.

The other highlight of the Convention include the Construction Industry Exhibition which will feature Malaysian building expertise and capabilities, services, machineries and construction materials, all under one roof. To make the trip a memorable one for delegates and their family, we have listed some of Malaysia’s iconic landmark projects for sightseeing.

This IFAWPCA Convention will bring the developing and developed member countries together to mutually benefit each other and create opportunities to renew old relationships and establish new ones. We look forward to hosting you in 2018!

Strategic Alliance withInnovatIon & Human CapItal

The construction industry is a barometer of a nation’s economic growth. A consistent expansion in areas such as the building of roads, airports, railways, ports, power plants along with commercial & residential expansions is an indicator of a thriving economy.

Welcome Messages

IFAWPCA members wait 18 months for every IFAWPCA convention. Member countries represented by their respective members come with great expectations to network with peers and build lasting acquaintances. Malaysia has waited 20 years to host the IFAWPCA convention for the 3rd time, which will be held from 12th – 16th November 2018 in our vibrant city, Kuala Lumpur.

The 44th IFAWPCA Convention in Kuala Lumpur will feature a thought provoking conference, interesting seminars with an exhibition featuring the Malaysian construction industry. The usual awards ceremony and other cultural and entertainment events will be a part of the 44th IFAWPCA 2018. Master Builders Association Malaysia has lined up some very interesting events that will showcase the Malaysian Truly Asia Hospitality, that can be seen infused in all the events that have been strategically lined up to echo the theme “Strategic Alliance with Innovation & Human Capital”.

It is a great privilege and honour to be the Organising Chairman for the Convention. We look forward to having you as part of the Convention and are optimistic that it will bring the regional construction fraternity closer while taking it a level higher creating smart partnerships by opening new doors for developed and developing member countries’ mutual benefit.

Malaysia, a gastronomical paradise, rich with cultural and natural diversity, entertainment and abundant shopping, awaits your arrival.

See you all on 12th November 2018!

Tan Sri AK NathanOrganising Chairman of the 44th IFAWPCA Convention 2018

Selamat Datang to Malaysia, Truly Asia!IFAWPCA Convention has always been a great platform where great minds congregate to exchange views and experiences about construction methodology and technologies. Through the sharing of ideas and knowledge as well as in-depth understanding of each country’s economic development gained during the Convention, I am sure the our objective of a strategic alliance between members can be achieved. We all aspire to the idea of efficiently managing human talents to foster further growth in terms of nation building, and I am confident that continuous emphasis on enhancing quality, professionalism and spirit of cooperation will ultimately transform the construction industry into a more innovative, efficient and sustainable one in the near future. Needless to say, the Convention is indeed the perfect opportunity to form Strategic Alliance – Innovation & Human Capital.

Many who attended the last Kuala Lumpur convention in 1998 still have fond memories that the host did an impressive job and it is my hope that we will do just as well, if not better. I welcome you to the 44th IFAWPCA Convention 2018, to represent your country’s construction industry, to exchange ideas and learn from one another, and not to forget, to partake in the myriad of enjoyable activities the country has to offer.
