Creative advisor, Development Partner, Consultant, Process Facilitator
We are ready to join you in the early stage where new products and ideas are created and we can support our customers strategically, creatively, and technically throughout the packaging development process.
our Innovation Center provides a onestopshop for cuttingedge packaging design, product consultation, training, sustainability support, and market intelligence.
the Wipak Group’s Design & Consulting division encompasses pack design, packaging technology and film development specialists who can each provide consultation services to customers across europe – supporting them from idea inception to product launch.
If you’ve got an idea, we’ll help you develop it. We can: verify the technical feasibility of your concept by optimizing film formulations; test various types of plastic and sealing layers; select the most appropriate paper grades for paper laminates; and produce packaging and print samples using the original laminate material.

Production in most cases requires prior prototyping. We produce prototypes using original materials – including different designs if required by our customers. the benefit of this approach is that the look and feel is identical to the future package. You will be able to reduce time and costs while getting a solid foundation for sound decisions without any expensive preproduction. In our Packaging test Center, we are testing packages and films under reallife conditions.

SuStaInaBILItY the road to Sustainable Packaging
the analysis of packaging and logistic processes, measures for increased productivity, or optimized material combinations are just a few of the parameters that we adjust in order to optimize not only the our films, but also the sustainability balance of the packaged products.
using ecoDesign analyses and ‘Product environmental Footprint’ (PeF) calculations, we can offer our customers orientation and guidance while supporting his product and package development.
the better products are protected, and the better food products can be preserved from spoiling, the more effectively resources can be protected. We therefore focus on the development of innovative packaging, jointly developing overall concepts in collabora tion with our customers.

Life Cycle Impact assessment (LCIa)Assessment of Sustainability How sustainable can packages be? using our own tools – and supported by scientific studies if required – Wipak assesses the environmental impact of materials and packaging concepts. various sustainability criterial are considered in this process. Life Cycle Impact assessments of the sustainability of paper/plastic material combinations are examples for this.
For the meat producer MarKo, Wipak analyzed different packaging concepts in order to compare the ecological impacts. this analysis considered all key stages of the life cycle of packaging films – from the raw materials to production and discharge.
result: Compared to a pure plastic solution, the greenhouse gas potential of the paper laminate developed for MarKo has been reduced by almost 40 percent. In addition, the amount of energy from fossil fuels required for this paper/plastic laminate has been reduced by about one third. these results have been confirmed by an independent institute.
this positive ecological balance has convinced MarKo. the previously used metalized package has now been replaced by the sustainable paper/plastic mixture. Key features: 30 gram paper, lower gauge, solventfree lamination. this standup pouch has been launched in June 2016.
