Hello everyone, I was so disappointed that I could not join you all at the first meeting in July, not only was it the first of the new IW year but the first in our new venue. Instead I had to stay at home with my box of tissues for company, you would not have been pleased if I had brought my cold with me ! All the reports I have had said what an excellent meeting it was, both from the number of you that came and the comfort of the Cottage. I was pleased that Lynda J. was able to present the cheques to the various charities as it completed her splendid year. The Club have received some lovely thank you letters from the groups that benefitted and it feels good to think in our small way we have been able to help many different people. At the August meeting I would like to chat about how we fund raise and support the Community now that our World is so changed from this time last year. Do bring all your ideas and suggestions. A big part of IW is friendship and fun so please try to join the trip to Hamilton Gardens on August 30 th . This is to mark IW NZ Day so it will be good to share it with other Clubs and Members. It poured with rain last time everyone went but they still had a lovely time ! Do give it some thought. Keep your fingers crossed that it does not rain on our stall at St. Chads ………………………..in friendship Jennifer Our Next Meeting: is on Wednesday 5 th August at 11 am - a daytime/lunch meeting at the home of Margaret Whitmore, 5 Waimanu Place, Point Wells. Very Important Message from our Treasurer, Nancy Please do not forget that your subs are due now .$65.00 to be paid as soon as possible. Hello everyone,

I was so disappointed that I could not join you all at the first meeting in July, not only was it the first

of the new IW year but the first in our new venue. Instead I had to stay at home with my box of

tissues for company, you would not have been pleased if I had brought my cold with me !

All the reports I have had said what an excellent meeting it was, both from the number of you that

came and the comfort of the Cottage. I was pleased that Lynda J. was able to present the cheques to

the various charities as it completed her splendid year. The Club have received some lovely thank you

letters from the groups that benefitted and it feels good to think in our small way we have been able

to help many different people.

At the August meeting I would like to chat about how we fund raise and support the Community now

that our World is so changed from this time last year. Do bring all your ideas and suggestions.

A big part of IW is friendship and fun so please try to join the trip to Hamilton Gardens on August

30th. This is to mark IW NZ Day so it will be good to share it with other Clubs and Members. It poured

with rain last time everyone went but they still had a lovely time ! Do give it some thought.

Keep your fingers crossed that it does not rain on our stall at St. Chads ………………………..in friendship

Lynda J thanks all those that contributed with donations of sugar, jars and fruit. Many

thanks go to Lynda for the time and effort she puts into her jam making. All money goes to

our club funds.

Car Boot Stall Don’t forget the stall on Saturday 1st August from 8 am to 12 noon at St. Chads in Orewa. Any items (except clothing and shoes) will be very welcome for us to sell. If you need any donations picked up (or dropped off) prior to Thursday or Friday, please let Jan R or Jennifer know.

Our first meeting since Covid-19 held in our new venue at Holy Trinity Cottage was a warm, cosy event

with much chatter as all seemed to enjoy getting back together again. Lynda Jenkinson (on behalf of

our President Jennifer) presented cheques to representatives of the five charities our Club supported

this year (Westpac Helicopter, Grandparents Parenting Grandchildren, Youth In Transition, Caring

Quilters at Hospice and Love Soup}.

Group of Cheque Recipients

Jennifer delivering to North Shore Auxiliary a bundle of knitted

items. A thank you email was received from its President, Linda

Smalley …

“Many of the knitted items will be given to the maternity ward this

week as well as to SCBU. The peggy squares are so beautifully

made they are easy to make into knee blankets. Again, without

your group’s generous donations, we could not serve North Shore

Hospital as well as we do.”

LEAD THE CHANGE 2020-2021

We did didn't we - 1 July 2020, first day of the INNER WHEEL year and we used a new venue, presented 5 cheques to wonderful workers in our community, had a lively, busy meeting and the donations of wine caps; knitting; goods for Love Soup; St Chads stall; etc - BUT most of all the PYJAMAS...

When I asked the committee if we could support Tania Adams at the local Manly Pharmacy with her PJ drive for Children at Middlemore Hospital I imagined maybe 10-12 pairs - what a wonderful group of ladies, friends and family - On the night 37 pairs of PJ's and enough money to purchase a further 6 pairs giving us a total of 43 pairs ... uh oh ... here comes another three pairs ... up to 46! We finally delivered 47 pairs. WOW - Wonderful Orewa and Whangaparaoa 'O' for 'Awsome' and a big THANK YOU . Catherine Horwood
