Bio Inna Malostovker
Inna Malostovker is a nature and fine art photographer and digital photo artist. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Inna made her way to the Sunshine State by way of downtown Manhattan and the North Carolina foothills and now works out of Miami, Florida. When she won her very first camera in a traffic safety competition held by a local newspaper at the age of twelve, a bonus prize lifelong passion arrived with it. Though rooted in a dedicated mission to explore all technical aspects of photography as a craft, Inna’s true satisfaction still comes from clambering through the mud or perching on a narrow ledge to capture that perfect shot. A joy matched only by the ability to share these unique perspectives with others, whether it is through the capture of landscapes or macro shots, wildlife images or abstract compositions.
Artist Statement Inna Malostovker
As a photographer, I’m devoted to practice and technique. I’m a firm
believer that like in any other trade, excellence can only be achieved by
painstaking dedication to mastering every aspect of your craft, no matter
how technical or innocuous.
As a designer, I strive to embrace the vast potential of the digital darkroom
and use it to turn that raw camera data into something larger than the sum
of its individual parts: a synergy of components that leaves the imagination
hungry and the mind wanting.
As an artist, I’m a forager, ever on the lookout to capture those fleeting
moments when color, form and light blend into an expression as much as
an image, those precious moments we all recognize, but rarely have the
opportunity to record.
Through my pictures I then try to convey my vision of the natural world to
the viewer. With my images at the core to safeguard continuity of detail and
authenticity, I add color, texture and depth, until each piece rises up from
its earthbound roots into a universe where the laws of physics are
governed only by the limits of the observer’s imagination.
For me, photography is a process of communication, a process that is both
a passion and a privilege to participate in, a process whose success or
failure depends entirely on the artist’s capacity to project her or his ideas
onto the onlooker’s perception.
