OUR PROJECT

• Build off of the Mid Carolina RAC’s existing helmet safety game to create a new game with 2 levels – helmet safety and water safety

• The goal of the game will be to encourage children to always be safe when biking, riding, and boating

THE ORIGINAL GAME

• We started with a helmet safety game, built in Phaser

• The existing project served as a great framework for us to build off of, but our client wanted us to implement new features and make changes to create the next iteration of the game

• Original Game Demo*

OUR WORK

• A few of our main objectives were:• Create a new water safety-themed “level” of the game• Redesign the graphics so that safe/unsafe sprites are easier to distinguish• Retrofit the existing helmet safety level to fit with the new theme• Implement an exciting scoring algorithm with multipliers for streaks• Add flashy images and sound effects to enhance gameplay• Implement an external high score table to track global high scores

THE RESULTS

• We were successfully able to complete all of our primary requirements

• In addition, we threw in a few extra features to enhance gameplay:• We introduced the concept of “lives” to make the game more intense• We made Sprite paths semi-random• We sped up overall gameplay significantly

• This includes more sprites on the screen at a given time and individual sprites moving across the screen faster

OUR DEMO

• You can preview our game on our temporary production environment:

• The game will be deployed to the Mid Carolina RAC’s website as soon as we have authorization to do so
