What are Knowledge Alliances?
• Large-scale cooperation projects betweenhigher education institutions and enterprises
• Open to any discipline, sector and to cross-sectoral cooperation
• To strenghten Europe's innovation capacity
Overall objective
Specific Aims of Knowledge Alliances
Knowledge Alliances shall intend to achieve 1 or more of the following aims:
• Develop new, innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches to teaching and learning;
• Stimulate enterpreneurship and enterpreneurship skills of higher education teaching staff and enterprise staff;
• Facilitate the exchange, flow and co-creation of knowledge.
Possible activities, for example
• Development of teaching methods, multi-disciplinary curricula and joint degree programmes in co-operation with enterprises (also continuing educational programmes)
• Support for and development of multi-disciplinary, student-centered and problem-oriented studies
• Entrepreneurship education in any discipline
• Schemes of transversals skills' learning in cooperation with enterprises
• Projects may include small-scale mobility if it supports the goals of the project
Knowledge Alliances Prerequisites
• Max. about 20 projects / year in Europe
• funding max. € 1 Million / project
• Minimum partnership: 6 organisationsfrom 3 participating countries
• Among the 6 organisations 2 HEIs and 2 enterprises required
• All types of organisations may participate and act as applicant
• May include organisations from partner countries if they bring added value
Special attention to
ECHE charter:• Higher Education Institutions established in a Programme Country
must hold a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education
Partners from non-programme countries (Optional)• If applicable, the involvement of an organisation from a non-
programme country must bring an essential added value to the project
Learning Mobility (Optional)• Mobility of students/researchers/staff in so far they support
/complement the other project activities + bring added value. Mobility does not constitute the main activities
• NB: budget for learning mobility can not be used to finance the costs for travels & susbistence of the partner organisations in relation to the other project activities (e.g. attendance of partnership meetings)

Relevance: 25 points
Quality of the project design and implementation: 25 points
Quality of the project team and the cooperation arrangements: 30 points!
Impact and dissemination: 20 points
