PREFACE

‘Know as you grow’ is the new mantra of CBSE subsequent to the induction of CCEin the newest forms of Assessments & Evaluation in IX & X grades. CCE stands forContinuous & Comprehensive Evaluation. The term ‘Continuous’ in CCE refers toperiodicity and regularity in assessment and the term ‘Comprehensive’ refers to overallassessment of the learner, in both curricular & co curricular scheme of things. The toolsand techniques for assessment as suggested under CCE are interesting, relevant andmeaningful and involve learners for greater participation and learning.

These CCE Question Banks for Classes IX & X have been written so as to supplementthe need of the students to prepare for these progressive assessments at school duringthe entire year.

CCE Question Bank has been divided into two parts: Formative assessment (FA) &Summative Assessment (SA). Formative part of the book will assist the students to preparefor the frequent class room based evaluation, both as an individual and as a group activity. The various formative techniques include Quizzes, Chapter assignment, Work sheets,Projects, Seminar, Symposium, Action Plans, etc. These activities have been elaboratedby CBSE Board on www.cbse.nic.in. The students can read through all these componentswhile revising a chapter to be always prepared for the surprise FA’s in the class.

Summative part of the book consists of exhaustive Question Bank. The practice ofthese questions will facilitate students to prepare chapter by chapter for the end of theterm, Summative examination based on Term 2 syllabus.

Practically, this book provides students everything they need to learn in this newCCE Pattern in a very helpful way.

We are sure that this book will serve as a perfect teaching guide for the teachers andgood textbook for the students. It is expected that they will take full advantage of ourknowledge and experience.

Although enough care has been taken to make the book error free but some mistakesmay have gone unnoticed. We highly appreciate feedbacks and suggestions from ourreaders.
