ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students• Organizer: Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Singapore

• Duration: 4-14 weeks (mainly during summer)

• Program fee: Nil Stipend: Optional (depends on individual organizations)

• Eligibility:

• All HKUST full-time non-final year undergraduate students

• Priority given to local students (according to the HKETO guideline)

• Disciplines: Any, as required by respective jobs

ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students

Timeline:Now – 31 Dec 2016 Online platform opens for creating applicant profiles (Stage 1)

Dec 2016 – Feb 2017 Job postings and application for jobs (Stage 2)

Dec 2015 – Feb 2016(on a rolling basis)

Career Center to nominate a maximum of 3 students for each internship opportunity and to inform students for their nominated post and organization

By Early Mar 2017(on a rolling basis)

Host Organizations to approach nominated students directly for telephone interviews, if any.

End Mar – Apr 2017 Announcement to successful students upon confirmed offers from host organizations

Apr – May 2017 Students who have accepted offer have to plan and arrange logistical matters including but not limited to accommodation, transportation, insurance, visa, etc. and inform Career Center about the arrangements

End Aug 2017 Submission of Employer Feedback Form, Learning Journal, photos (with company logo), etc.

Early Sep 2017 Student interns must attend a debriefing session organized by the Career Center

Sep 2017 – Jun 2018 Student interns are to act as buddies for interns of the next round and help with future activities of internship programs (e.g. sharing at information sessions/ recruitment talks/ pre-departure briefing, promotion materials, etc.)

Note: A Student Undertaking and a refundable deposit of HK$3,000 will be collected upon confirmation of offer.

• Location: Belt and Road Countries, ASEAN Countries and regions, mainland China, etc.(Actual locations subject to availability)

• Duration: 4-8 weeks, from Jun to Aug

• No Program Fee ---Training program, round-trip ticket, accommodation, insurance and allowance will be provided to successful applicants.

• Successful applicants are required to be student members of MSRS (membership fee HK$100) and pay a deposit of HK$2,000 which will be refunded after the completion of the internship

• Duration: Minimum 2.5 months, usually from Jun to Aug

Working Holiday Scheme

Duration: Up to 12 months

Description:

• Students are to look for jobs while travelling in selected countries

• More about experiencing different life and culture than an internship opportunity per se

• Program Requirements:

Age between 18 and 30 and travelling without children

Resident of the HKSAR & holder of a valid HKSAR / British

National (Overseas) passport

Be going abroad primarily for holiday

Be able to produce financial proof of available funds to meet

the living costs while staying in the host country

STRONGLY advised to take out suitable medical,

hospitalization and liability insurance policy before departure

Selected overseas internship programs for OISS 2016-17 includes:- ASEAN Internship Scheme for Hong Kong Higher Education Students- Cross-Cultural Internship Program (CCIP)- The Bloom of Youth and - The Intern Group

Overseas Internship Sponsorship Scheme (OISS) 16/17 Objective: To encourage students to join selected overseas internship programs*

to enrich their international experience by providing financial support to help alleviate their economic burden

For full-time non-final year UG (excluding exchange-in students)

One-off grant of HK$10,000 or HK$20,000 (ONCE only per student)

• HK$10,000: Internship in ASEAN member countries with a minimum duration of 4 weeks (priority for 6 weeks or above)

• HK$20,000: Internship in Australia, Europe, Latin America and the USA with a minimum duration of 6 weeks

Given as conditional pledge (Announcement of result: On rolling basis)

First Round: 1 Dec 2016 – 31 Dec 2016

Second Round: 1 Jan 2017 – 30 Apr 2017
