Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)

• PIPEDA became law on April 2000 to promote consumer trust in electronic commerce

• a Canadian law relating to data privacy.



• It governs how private sector organizations collect, use and disclose personal information in the course of commercial business.



• This Act applies to every organization that collects, uses or discloses personal information for commercial purposes or in connection with the operation of a federal work or business.
